• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. XM radio, and their antennas...

This is what's so GREAT about this place... Somebody can always find a better way to accomplish something!! :2thumbs:
...And then, they SHARE it!:ohyea::yes:

Hi Guys!
The MIssus must have forgotten some of my mis-deeds this past year; She bought an XM Onyx EZ for me to use in my truck, and in the Spyder.
I've got it working in the truck pretty well; that magnetic mount antenna is giving me some reason for concern...
What do we do for antennas, when there's nothing metal to attach them to? Does Sirius/XM have an alternative that'll work better? I've aleady got it figured out how I'm mounting it: In the top trunk, where I've got a 12 volt power source, and access to the connections to allow me to use an MP-3 player plug-in directly into the system.
It's the antenna that has me puzzled...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

[h=1]XM Radio Car Antenna Delphi SkyFi, Roady XT, MyFi, Jensen, onyX, Xpress, Edge,[/h]Hi
this is the antenna I use. I have it mounted on the top of my RT rear trunk. The method I use is putting a circular shape magnet on the under side of the trunk lid underneath the antenna. The magnet is about the size of a quarter, and it holds real well, and it does not mar the finish.

Does it really work well?

I had XM on my HD '07 Street Glide. The antenna mounted inside the front fairing and the XM module plugged into the factory head unit. As long as I wasn't riding north it worked ok (satalites are in the southern sky). I eventually just canceled my subscription for that radio because it just wasn't worth it. So the question is does it work as well on the Spyder as it does in a car from a reception standpoint?

2 antennas then

One in the frunk and one in the trunk, run them into a toggle switch so that you could use the one that is facing the right direction. Or you could just put the antenna mount on your helmet.:D

medicineman

I took dark plexiglas and made a small wedge and double stick taped to the top of the dash. There was plenty of antenna wire to run to it. Works great. I first installed on the ledge inside the trunk as directed. Worked OK when solo but 2 up blocked too much signal.
