XL Biker's Friend

I got my Biker's Friend seat bag yesterday just before I had to leave for work so there was only a quickie picture for dltang to post on her thread for size comparison. I fastened it to my Spyder this morning and took a few more pics for any who are interested. This is the XL bag.

Here is the bag from the back. It fits perfectly between the passenger grab bars.

This is from the front. That back roll hits just the right spot on my back for added support. Also, at 6'4" with a 36" inseam, the back rest pad is at a useable position for me without having to ride one handed or otherwise contort my body to use it with the stock handlebars. Anyone who is getting the Kewlmetal or NoMagicNeon risers would be able to adjust their bar pullback to give them great cruising comfort using the Biker's Friend backrest.

The rear mounting is with the supplied bungee. I attached the bungee to the D-ring, went around the passenger grab bar (first picture), between the seat and the tail light panel (second picture, route shown with red arrows), around the other side passenger grab bar and attached to the other D-ring.

The front mounting is with the supplied bungee, to the D-ring, under the seat (second picture) and back to the other D-ring.

So far, I really like this. I will know more after this weekend when we are doing our U.P. cruise. I have no reason to doubt that this will work out great.

Careful that the front D-Ring doesn't rub a hole in your seat. I just wore a hole in my Spyder seat with a large carry-bag and had to buy the seat-skin to hide the hole. Most people that I ride with who strap something to their pillion seat put a towell on their seat first to stop any chafing from straps or the carry bag itself. Or even cover panels with 100mph tape where ocky straps are pulled over the tupperware.

Also, when something is strapped to the pillion grab handles, It's difficult to raise the seat for fuel.

Thanks for the suggestion of a towel under the bag to protect the seat. That is a good idea. As for the fuel problem that is solved. The back straps are far enough back that it doesn't hinder opening the seat for fuel and the front strap is under the seat so it isn't held to the grab handle. If the bag is heavy and pushes the seat down when you open for fuel, just put the fuel cap under the seat all the way back and it keeps the seat propped open.

Thanks for the post and pictures. I plan to get one of these before I hit the road for some touring. The extra large looks like it was made to fit on the passenger’s seat. But I didn't know how the mounting straps would go.
Now I do.
