XA Radio problem

I have noticed when I ryde without the wife XM works perfectly but, when ryde 2up the reception is spotty. The radio goes in and out. The antenna is in the trunk on her left side. Has anyone else had this problem and do you have your XM antenna in a different place?

You can blame your Wife for this: she's blocking the antenna's satellite reception. nojoke
A lot of folks have tried to figure out a better place to put the antenna. Until one is found: that's about what you have to look forward to.

i would think that where the antenna is mounted, she is blocking it. now a stupid question. on the return trip, does the reception get better. i am not trying to be a wise guy this time. but the way the signal hits the antenna, you could be riding into the signal, but on the return trip, the signal would be behind your wife, and reception would be better

I believe that most of the satellites are in the Southern sky. When you put the tail of the bike to them: reception should improve! :thumbup:

Since the reception was so bad I just muted the sound until we got home but, I know the signal is from the North/Northwest. I will try it next time and see...

There are two XM signals that you could be receiving while riding if you live in or near a metro area. Sirius XM leases bandwidth from radio stations in metro areas to broadcast their signals. This is so they will have better coverage around tall buildings that can block satellite signals from the southern sky. Your regular XM antenna picks up both these terrestrial and satellite signals.

If you are riding out in the countryside then the only signal you can get is the satellite signals. To get the best reception your antenna needs to have a clear; unblocked "view" of the southern sky.

I ride with an XM Delphi xm2go myfi receiver on my Spyder and I have found the best place to put my antenna is on the dash behind the windshield. I have the fewest dropout with it at that location.
