• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WUSSIN' OUT....

I'm so ashamed to admit to Wussin' out on riding, but upper 90's with 90% humidity takes all the fun out of riding for this old warrior!
I'm dizzy and daffy enough normally, but after getting overheated on a recent ride, and taking hours to get slowly rehydrated, the lure of the air conditioning in The Treehouse feels mighty good right now....surely there'll be a few days of relative comfort riding over the next month.....which gives me time to reflect on where to go (perhaps the Smokies again).

For those of you who are heartier (aka younger) than me....RIDE SAFE AND ENJOY!

 You're doing the smart thing...
There's nothing heroic about passing out on top of a moving motorcycle. nojoke

Agree...

Know your limits...:lecturef_smilie: the nice thing about ryding out here is you a can always head to the coast and enjoy the climate change....

I commend you sir........That is not Wussin' Out, that it think about your safety and being able to ride another day and the Safety of others.

God Bless.:bowdown::bowdown:

Wise move for sure. No need to try to be a hero. As we age in life, no need to prove anything to anyone! Tom :spyder:

i don't go out in the heat and humidity. really starting to think if owning and paying for a bike, for a few rides when it cools down, is worth it

We'll still go out, but the rides are shorter, we start out fully-hydrated, and carry lots of water with us...

I agree safety first. We are ryding with our heat and humidity in Florida, but we have the cool vests, carry water in a cooler and waters in insulated cup in the cup holder. We Ryde early morning, get back before it gets too hot.

Smart move.through

That's called riding smart. I lead a ride every Tuesday from our 55+ community. From October through May it's a lunch ride leaving at 10 or 11 depending where my destination is. But, come June 1st through September it becomes a breakfast ride leaving at 8:30 and getting back by noon. The Florida heat and humidity can really do a person in.

update

Well, the temps moderated a tiny bit and it's overcast, so I'm off to ride escorting the Viet Nam Memorial Wall from Birmingham AL to Fultondale AL. Our local Spyder club (Heart of Dixie Spyder Ryders) is our group.

:D Today was a BEAUTIFUL day!
It only hit 91 degrees! :roflblack:

It's time to go find an ice cream stand, that's in need of some attention!

I agree with all of the above, including the ice cream!:joke: Riding is not much fun when it feels like a furnace fan blowing in your face. Very hot in this area these days also.

When the heat is really on it isn't much fun to ride for me either. I limit my riding time to early morning and evening when possible. Working day shift usually means evening if I know its going to be really hot at 3:15. If you walk outside and it feels like stepping into an oven, its time to go back in.

Smart NOT Stupid

I use to have a electra glide ultra classic HEAT Machine, now I have a 2016 rt ltd.

I was stopped at a light with the hog. This guy came up beside me, gold wing guy FULL LEATHERS.
Air temp was 95f 75 rh. Full Face helmet open shield.

I looked over at this guy and his eyes shut!!! He slumped over to the left and the bike fell to the right.
TRAFFIC stopped on a green light, all directions.

I got off my bike and ran over to the guy.

Everyone got out of their cars, someone called 911. Fortunately for this guy the ambulance station was just down the street.

This guy was very lucky because of the care given him by the attendants.

I waited for the float to arrive to drop off his bike at his house. His wife took care of the bill as she went to the hospital.
One biker to another with an outreached hand.

I don't enjoy riding at 90 and above. After 12 hrs in the heat at work it's just not so much fun ,only transportation home.

I hope I can head up to Mt Mitchell, NC on one these hot days to get a cool down at 6,600 feet.
