• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wrenching for the Wrenching

Well, Lamont got me out of my Computer Cave for a few hours today to do some wrenching on the Spyder, getting ready for the Wrenching we'll be enduring on the G&G ride.

I love to work on motorcycles, always have. And when you've got a good buddy to help, you get more than twice as much done.

Got the ESI Day Runners and Day Runner Pucks installed. New RT Shocks are in, Coolant changed out.

Swapped out the stock Halogens for the 8000k HID's.

Took the OEM fog lights out. I'd rather have the added airflow to the engine compartment and the Day Runner Pucks more than make up for the loss while using much less juice.

Found out my Y gasket is heading south so added that to the list. 20K on the original isn't too bad.

Overall, a very good day! Plan is to hit it again tomorrow.

When you order the rt shocks do you have to tell the dealer all the part numbers that make up the shock or is their 1 part number for the complete set up?

Bob, I've got two left hands and ten thumbs when it comes to wrenching. I don't think I'll ever do an oil change again. I hate the Spyder when it comes to maintenance. Grrrr....

Yes, you have to order each part. It is beyond me why BRP does it that way but hey, they've built a multi billion dollar business so I can't say too much. Still, seems a bit silly.

Be sure you order the STEEL adjusting ring. I didn't know about it (and I guess the dealer didn't either). Or, I may have ordered just before the new part came out.

But you DO NOT want the breakage prone cast adjuster, you want the steel. And I'll bet the cost isn't much different. Even if it is, go with the steel.

Is that an RS or RT part???

Should be the same part for either shock. I see your point. You could order that part to replace the cast adjusters on either RS or RT shock. Probaby not a bad idea. But you'll probably need to have the dealer do the change as compressing the spring can be a bear, impossible without the right tool.

Are you finished working on the Spyder Ron, or did you sneak into Lamont's office and he just hasn't caught you yet? :dontknow: :D

You also will need the ring protectors with the steel adjusting rings.

Wouldn't it be less expensive and easier to order and install a set of Elka stage 1 shocks? :dontknow: They are only $695 for a set and I believe all those individual BRP parts are going to add up to more than that for a set. :D
The BRP parts will cost you less than $300.
