There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Wrap question

Hi.
have a question to ask wrap experienced people.
I have a wrap on my frunk.. Purchased from the fella who advertises here (forget name), power sports maybe..
I want to remove it..it has been on about 4 months
Now what should I expect to be under the wrap?
Will paint be faded and not match rest of bike?
will I have glue residue or paint chip..
what I really want to know is if the bike will look worst after I remove the frunk wrap.
also,, how difficult is it to remove,,I think it's 2 pieces

Thanks
sue

Hi Sue,
While I've not removed any of my vinyl from Pete: www.powersaportswraps.com,
I've usually found that putting a good amount of heat to it softens up the adhesive and makes removal easier. Take a real tiny and sharp knfe's edge, :yikes:, and use that to get an edge up and started. Then it's a matter of patience and peeling!
It certainly shouldn't pull paint off of your bike when it's being removed!
Any residue should clean up pretty easy. I usually start with alcohol (NOT the imbibed stuff!), and only move up to acetone or MEK if it's really truly needed!
There shouldn't be any paint fade; it's the uncovered portion of your bike that might have faded, and I've got faith in BRP that they know how to lay down color that'll last.

Will it look worse? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; you'll have to tell us... :dontknow:
Good Luck with this project, and please let us know the results; I've never seen anything else in here about removing vinyl before!

Hi Pete!
You beat me to this one...
I got your design; the Missus and I will be looking them over today. THANKS!

I have considered a few small wraps and want to use this company. Are you bored with the design? Did it fade? Difficult to clean? I have vinyl on my charger and love it but it can be somewhat delicate as it is black. Please elaborate (might help sponsor too)

Got the wrap off.. How do I get the glue outline of the wrap off..

Try some alcohol. (The rubbing kind!)
I use alcohol swabs since I've got about a million of them in the house (Type I diabetic), but a bottle of the stuff and a clean rag and elbow grease ought to do the job.

Glad that they came off for you!

Wonderful company.. Design was grand, just I want to change it up..maybe something red..
this is why I wrapped it instead of paint, so I can change it whenever I want.

To remove adhesive residue try Goo gone. While in the shade (in the hot sun it may evaporate before it can dissolve the adhesive) wipe it on let it set for a couple minutes and wipe off.

Just remember to wipe the surface with a wet cloth after you get all the adhesive off to remove the Goo gone residue which I believe is from orange peels and so may be some what acidic.

I have used a little gasoline on a rag to remove road tar.. dont know if it will disolve glue.

wd40 is a good solvent

Sorry, didn't get your email question. Pretty good advice everyone.. Regarding removal as expressed, warm the film and pull it. How it comes off will depend much on what product you have of ours. If a trunk wrap then it will come off with minimal adhesive remaining. If a metallic or reflective then you have more work to do. Once off, googone is your best bet to get the remaining adhesive off. Better to let it soak for 1-3 min then use a terry towel to rub over the adhesive. It will gum up and you can wipe it off. We have a video if you would like me to send it to you. Also, let us know if we can help you with your new look.
Thanks
pete

Plexus is the safest to use on plastic. I just removed the Can Am logos from my R-35 saddlebags and Plexus removed the remaining residue which was quite aggressive. I considered using a stronger solvent but I always start with the safest product first. Use stronger solvents only when you have to and test them in an inconspicuous area first.
