There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Would you Buy 2013 RT (new)?

NO don't buy! Unless you buy my 2013 RTL

Also,

Last week I wrote about a dead battery. Turns out the battery was not dead, fuses were blown because of water getting into the fuse box after washing the unit.

Your problem was the dealer not the bike. There was a recall to fix that problem I am sure your dealer did not do ( or not correctly ) prior to delivery.:dontknow:

Also have to add that I would not buy a 2013. There have been to many issues posted. Just that, makes the resale probably the worst on any year :ani29: so far.

If you are looking for a best deal price--the 2013 will certainly give that to you. You can get big iron for a giveaway price. It is most likely going to get better once the 2015's hit the streets. The price is great if you are going to decide to keep it for a few years--then you will not lose your shirt. Will you get a good one, or a "bad" one. That is the part that I would consider the most. Since Murphy's Law seems to stalk me, I would be asking for it--IMO.

I almost bought a 2013--because I wanted yellow. The hype was on to the point that I was almost sick of it. Then...the issues started cropping up. First the front end handling, then the heat, and then some fires. Okay, I got the idea. And I am glad that I held off.

I have owned 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and now 2014. No 2012 needed because the 2011 was just fine and less expensive due to one year old closeout price. 2013 mentioned in paragraph above. Happy with 2014 but not going to make a big deal because I don't want to offend 2013 owners. I did make the statement that 2014 would probably be my last :spyder2:. It's free and clear and looks like it will probably out last me. Time will tell.

I started my experience with my 2013 RT LTD with many heat associated issues, and a poor dealership. Since the recall and Service Bulletins have all been done, the hoses to the throttle body and the purge valve have been replaced, it is a different machine. I no longer get the 1st degree burns from the where the seat and tupperware meet. I've installed some farkles that have improved the experience, dramatically. Am I concerned about the rubber and plastic parts that are still under the Tupperware, and were exposed to that heat? Yes. Does it stop me from riding? Not a chance.

The NHTSA investigation in process will either discover serious issues and require they be resolved . . . or determine the fire danger is over.

Knowing what I know, now, if I was in the market, yes, I'd buy a 2013 RT, providing all recall and service/warranty bulletins are done before it ever rolls out of the dealership and it was heavily discounted. Then, I'd use some of the savings to do what BikerDoc discussed, adding all the great-to-have farkles, starting with the cat delete, Baja Ron Sway Bar, Elka shocks, BumpSkid, and highway pegs . . . and, perhaps, an awesome custom designed seat . . . and still be money ahead.

Yesterday, I saw my dealer had a new 2013 RT Limited SE6, which includes a 622 trailer for sale for $24,000 and I would not buy it.

I bet it was an SE5. If it was an SE6 it would have been a BRP experimental model and may be worth big money someday.

But, if it was an SE5 I would not buy it.

You have gotten a few positive responses and two have been from actual owners of the 2013. One just bought theirs last month and the other is happy after the recalls were completed. DatGuy thought he was happy until his burned after the recalls were done.

You sure it was a '13 RT with an SE6?

Having owned both, the '14 is leaps and bound ahead of the 13... BUT, at the right price, I'd buy another '13. While my '13 was hot... I wasn't "get off the bike" hot... just a sort of annoying.

I would buy a 2013 RTL again

I purchased my 2013 RTL last month used with 3500 miles (already had the tuned exhaust and trailer hitch installed), I thought about passing and going for the 2014 but saved A LOT of money so to me it justified taking the chance. Now I live in North Texas and we have been around 100 or so and yes it gets hot, never hot enough for me to get burned and never smelled gas so I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I have put over 1000 miles running around and love it. Its you call.

I own a 2013 rts se5 have put over 3000 miles on it and it was used when i bought it so take this for what is it worth....I would not buy a 2013, if one was given to me id give it back. Having ridden the 14 i regret buying the 13. The gas mileage isnt as good, thing is hot on the right side, have done mods to try and make the air flow better, not enough good to talk about. So again for what it is worth, pass on a 13 rts....

I live in Las Vegas so I'll take your hot and raise you one. I did not feel heat on my 2013 RT except for that one time. When it burned up.

Don't burst my bubble! BRP will come up with a recall and take care of the issue. I am still happy with my '13, if it went up in flames probably not so much:pray:

If the price was right

I bought my 2013 RT Limited in May of 2013, I chose it over the 2012 because the rice difference didn't warrant the depreciation you would get on a year older model.

as for heat, yup that's an issue for sure but with a few modifications, it becomes bearable, I like it and will keep it for a couple more years.

having said all that, if I was buying now and had an option 2013 or 2014 and know what you know, I would pay the extra and buy the 2014.

i had the choice back in December of 13. at that time the 14's looked promising but no one had one yet and they had been delayed several times. all anyone had was what was on paper. nothing proven at that point.

knowing what I knew I saved over $8k and went with the 13 RT LTD. so far zero problems and yes I'd do it again to save that kind of money.

yes I have added Baker Air Wings (which I highly suggest) & JT's Air Filter Kit. does it get warm? of course .. you are sitting on top of engine. does it get burning hot? I haven't had that experience yet. just over 6500 miles and counting.
