• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Won't start!

My SO and I both have just

scanned every item on the Spyder SM / SE Electrical Schematic and we cannot find a fuseable link on the schematic.

Now if we were talking about a VW beetle... I can tell you where every fuseable link is because I just restored a 2000 model for my granddaughter's superior grades gift. Now "ain't" I a good granddad? She earned it though... we had a deal... she would get really good grades and I would restore and give her a dark blue Beetle. She kept up her end of the bargain... a GPA 4.0 for 3 years and 4 months. As of yesterday I delivered my end of the bargain to her in Virginia yesterday. 1400 miles friday and saturday I may not be a iron butt... but it was a bun burner. /Ken

Yes, you are. Want to adopt me? :yikes:

Congrats to the grandkiddo for the excellent grades!

With my bunch I can't afford to adopt anyone. To get my 10 year old grandson to improve his grades... I had to make a bargain with him... the deal is if he gets all A's for the next couple of years... I'll get him a new violin... thank goodness they are less expensive than restoring a vw beetle. //Ken

Just moved from Colorado to Az. When I loaded the bike it was running fine. Got to Az, went to unload and it won't start. I turn the key, nothing, no read out, nothing, it's like there is no battery in it. Checked all the fuses, they were fine. Any suggestions?:dontknow:
DID YOU LOOK AT IT AGAIN YET :yikes:maybe you can scare it back :joke:

Maybe . . . . .

. . . . the same thing happened to me last night! :yikes:

Was out riding. Stopped at the store on the way home to pick up some milk.
When I came out of the store, popped the frunk, put the milk in and then turned the key to start up and . . . . . NOTHING. No lights, no clicks, no nothing.

Turned the key again and . . . . .NOTHING. The worse thing about this was that your avatar popped into my head - very scary.

After a couple more times - suddenly it turned on.

What had happened ( I am pretty sure ) is that the ignition was stuck in the "down" or "in" position - where you push it in or down to open the frunk or seat to gas up. I don't know if some dust/dirt/grime had gotten in there, but whatever pushes the key slot back up was jammed somehow and the ignition would not return to the engine turn-on/off mode.

So, if it is not an electrical problem (which you have seemed to verified) check the mechanical operation of the ignition switch. Maybe you picked up some dirt on the trip to AZ that is now interfering with it.

You might also try using your spare key - maybe your regular key electronics got fried during the trip down - the problem may be with the key. (just another shot in the dark guess)

Tom, porboy has
two threads on this, On his other thread i asked him if his 4 ways work and if you press the button behind the throttle do the head light go on?, if I'm not mistaken he said they don't turn on. so that would eliminate the ignition switch. But your right it is some thing to check anyway.

Had the same senario happen to me a couple of weeks ago. Check battery for corrosion. That was my problem.

Thanks for the info... I'll get some dry nitrogen and blow it out then lube it again. Does anyone have mechanical watch oil or whale spermaceiti oil for sale? /ken krb1945
