• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

wont start with rear tire on the ground

Agreed. But I also know that a battery at less than 12 bolts will cause other things to happen, codes, etc. I can tell you that with 11.7 volts mine acted like pushing the starter button was causing a dead short and the whole ECM would reboot. Getting the battery to the proper level eliminates one thing.

Well guys, I jacked it up again and it would barely start and the low battery indicator on the dash was illuminated. First time i saw that on the spyder. I also had my wife rev it up to 4k (rpms) and had my voltmeter terminals attached to the battery and the volts stayed at 10. The voltage did not budge. So needless to say the battery is on my garage floor and will be load tested tomorrow.

To do list: pick up a new battery

Will post update tomorrow

Only 10 while the bike was running and rev'd up?

Sure hope its not the alternator/stater that's gone out. I guess it could also be the regulator-rectifier.

But yeah, simple thing first; I would agree lets get that battery charged up and see what happens next.

Weird. Keep us posted.

Sounded like gear position switch wire loose, then all the messing around drained the battery...or killed it.

Ok guys, got a new battery and nothing has changed. I ruled out fuel and spark so that leaves air which means the throttle bodies or something related to the throttle bodies. They were never changed by the way. I did notice that when I shifted into first with the air box removed, the throttle bodies would move up a little and then crash, the engine dies. So off the to the dealer in conroe tomorrow.

Ok guys here is an update from dealer. The centrifuge clutch went out, which is why when the bike is off the ground the rear wheel spins and you can shift through the gears. When the bike is back on the ground, the weight of the bike stalls the engine. Had anyone ever heard of this on a SE5?

I have BEST extended warranty so do you think the part and labor will be covered?

Good to know..!!

makes sense but strange it would go out just when you had it in the air... you can shift the manual clutch units without the clutch if in the air and rolling. Glad they found the problem and you let us know...:2thumbs:

Glad to hear that the culprit was found.
This is the first one of these, that I've heard of going bad...

If the service is covered under warranty, which I would think it is, your labor and everything is included. $50 deductible is all you should have to pay.

Mileage on the bike is about 33k. The oil I used had been BRP brand and used Amsoil a few times. Amsoil was too pricey so I reverted back to BRP

No. Because the thing starts and runs fine off the ground. I ran through the gears while it was jacked up. The centrifuge clutch is probably my problem, don't know how though because I shift between 4-5k rpms and and the shifting is just a push of a button. It will be at the dealer for at least a week, maximum 2.

Update, it's been a week and half, and the dealer is waiting on the warranty company to verify if the centrifuge clutch is covered. On another note pro power sports of Conroe has a horrible staff in service. I have to call them to get information on my vehicle and most times they wouldn't answer or call back. Just horrible

ok guys i got the spyder back just in time for memorial day and the tech showed me the centrifugal clutch and he said that BRP upgraded the part. he said something to do with the bearings wearing out prematurely, so the new part is much more durable. Also he told me that every 8 -10 months i should bring it in so that it can be hooked up to BUDS to get any updates from BRP. Sounds like a windows operating system just on wheels for these updates although not as frequent as M.S does.

He also said that 2 other spyders came in with the same problem. I don't know what the mileage was on those spyders but at least I'm not the one with the problem.

he also mentioned that, the shifts needs to be between 4300 and 6000 due to the new bearings and when they make contact to move the bike. Sounds very similar to the "Do's and Don'ts" thread which i read as a refresher.

See yall on the road!!!
