• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wish my bike had heat problems

Time to put the liners in the riding pants and you should be good. Have run into some 30's so far and were still good.

The older I get the more I don't like cold.

Good thing we only usually have 2 or less months of below 40's here. :)

Perfect day for riding here but no Spyder. Hopefully the gorgeous weather will continue next week when my loaner arrives.

Cold weather riding??
A friend of mine gave me a set of insulated leggings that you just wrap around your calves; they secure with velcro.
Warm and toasty in 28 degree weather! :ohyea:

heat

my bike might not have the worst heat problem out of all of them. i took the side off and the master cylinder was good but i feel the heat on my right foot really bad. but i have what is called diabetic neuropathy, and it causes pain in the nerves in your body http://lyrica.com/DPN/understanding-diabetic-nerve-pain-and-symptoms so when i am riding i feel like my right foot is on fire so if you want my heat i will give it to you for free

John,
Neuropathy is your friend; you can probably stub a toe right sideways in the middle of the night , and go right back to sleep... :joke:
I found that I had more nerve pain if I didn't keep close control of my Blood glucose levels...
Keeping my A1c readings in the low sixes really helps; I now only have diminished sensations without the shooting pains!:ohyea::yes:

my levels are in the 7,3 range and i take insulin and orals i hate diabetes that is why i complain so much about the heat on the bike. why own something i can't ride due to pain

No sense in hating it; you've just got to find the best way to deal with it!
After all; it sure ain't going away! nojoke
I actually got some good news yesterday from my insulin pump supplier (Metronic). They've got a brand new pump coming out that will AUTOMATICALLY suspend the delivery of insulin if Blood Glucose reading drop to a predetermined level...:ohyea::yes:
they've also improved the accuracy of the sensors that monitor BG levels by 31%
They're getting closer and closer to creating the "closed-loop "system that we've been dreaming about!! :2thumbs:

I get the new pump in a couple of weeks!:2excited:
Approaching 49 years as a Type-I diabetic... ;)

type 2

i am considered type 2 and the insurance will not pay for a pump. but the new one they are coming out with is great. i checked into them and tried to get a pump but got a big no

Has your endo done a C-Peptide test? If the results are bad enough; insurance HAS to pay for the pump...
Ask about it...

i have a pair of snow pants i use occasionally this time of year .in another couple of weeks it will be time for the waterproof Cortech 2 piece snowmobile suit .i really need heated grips and i have not found any that are 2009 GS specific yet .saw some german made battery operated gloves the other day- 260.00 dollars though .going to try the grabber hand warmers first and see how they work .
