• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Winter?!?!?

So....this is my first winter with my Spyder in a state (PA) that actually gets cold and quite a bit of snow. Anyone care to share some winterizing tips and would my bike be okay if I left it covered outside during the months? Thanks! :2thumbs:

Personally I would never leave a bike outside during the winter. If you know for sure you aren't going to ride it during the winter I would seek out a shop that does storage. Some of the dealers will even winterize it for you. You just drop it off and pick it up in the Spring. That's what I would do but that's me. :D

:agree:That's the way to go [storage] Plus you won't have to worry
about a arrant snow plow hitting your Spyder:yikes:

Dress warm and ride, that is our moto here in Michigan. As long as the roads aren't snow covered or icy, we are usually riding. We use snowmobile muffs on our handlebars to help with the cold. Thinking about heated gloves but just haven't gone there yet. I do have a Thermosuit that I wear and it keeps me pretty toasty. But alas, if you feel you don't want to ride, definitely winterize and store your spyder.

There are many nice days in the winter that riding the Spyder is a lot of fun, so I never winterize or "store" the Spyder. Just put on a battery tender with a small electric heater in the garage to take the extreme chill off.
By the way I rode my Harley tri glide to work in 30 gegree temps the other day. It is not as comfotable at all for winter riding as the spyder is. The aerodynamics are totally different in the Spyder. It seems like the front shape of the spyder creats a reasonably comfortable cavity for the rider. The tri glide had a lot of turbelance, so I will be saying goodby to the Harley TG this winter but contiue riding the Spyder. Another big plus for the beloved Spyder for cold states riders.

I ride mine all winter in MA.
Gerbings heated gear.
People buy me coffee when I go into Dunkin Donuts...
So did you buy the Spyder just for the free coffee?? :D:roflblack:
Heated garage and hooked to a charger with fuel stabilizer in the tank... but still run every week just to keep things moving!

It gets pretty cold here. Once it was 40 degrees. Oh well. We just put on long sleeve shirts to offset the cold.

It was 28 on my way to work the other morning and it took a little more than long sleeves but still not a bad ride.
