• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I have just put in my first set of orders for upgrades for my spyder:
VTC running boards:thumbup: thanks for the review Lamont, pushed me over the edge
VTC top vents
VTC back spoiler with break light (not sure if this will turn out to be a keeper)
Zenon Depot head lights
Smooth Spyder belt tensioner

Next round will include brite sides, maybe elka shocks and I have been back and forth about the VTC front fenders, any thoughts about these from the crowd? I am also thinking about the lower vents from VTC.
I am waiting on a camping trailer until I see what is at the Chicago international motor cycle show.

Man that VTC stuff looks top shelf ! The belt tensioner made a world of difference to my Rt. Took away 95% of belt vibration .

Open letter to Lamont

Dear Lamont,
As you may have heard, Wisconsin is a beautiful place to see in late February and early March. With that said, Please come to Wisconsin around late February or early March. I am scared, almost frightened  of the amount of work that I will need to do to put the Silver Star back together after all of the upgrades this year, please see pictures. Speaking of pictures, yes I am taking alot of them and keeping the parts as organized as possible, but damn there are a lot of parts to deal with here. By the way what would you suggest for upgrades that I may not have considered while I have this thing all apart for the last time ever!nojoke:banghead:

I would add more photos but for some reason the computer web does not want to upload.

Thank you for you consideration,
JCSMOKE

Can't wait to see the finished product! If I ride up your way this winter I may just have to stop by. I'd offer to help but when I have bolts and parts left over when I get my GS back together I just feel that I'm more efficient at rebuilding the GS than the factory. :gaah:

I'm just hoping that the extra parts I have can fit in the palm of my hand and not need two to carry them.:sour: I'm really hoping to be on the first ride of the season or at least make an early trip to a monthly meeting.

Looks like a fun project. Most of those parts I have not installed so I would be learning too. I would do the Elka's for sure seeing you'll be adding some weight to this build. Keep us posted and if I can make it happen I may just drop by. :doorag:

XENON DEPOT HID KIT CAME IN

I got my head light kit for the spyder in today. Here is what you get.

I will take pics as I am installing the lights and tell you how it goes. As far as dealing with Xenon Depot, they were great to work with and the shipping was fast.
The kit is a 9005 4,300k

Tric Led lights are in

Reggy sent me my led set for the Spyder

Reggy also sent me a cool new spyder emblem that he might be selling on his site. Real quality construction using metal and it has a 3m sticky patch on the body. I'm not sure if this will make it on the Silver Star but it was nice to get something extra from a great vendor. check out the second pic to see what it looks like.

Smooth Spyder RT set up came it

I got the Smooth Spyder belt tensioner today too. I was a bit upset yesterday when I read that they are now on sale for about $30 less then what I paid this past week, but such is life.
Here is what I gotIMG_0984.jpgIMG_0985.jpg
fast shipping and what looks to be quality construction, aparently I have to take up fishing after I get this installed, oh well there are worst things in life.

 Wow! You are going to be spending lots of time in the garage with all of these goodies... :2thumbs:

I plan on giving everyone the low down on installing stuff on this thing (it is a thing after pulling all the plastic off) The Elka's are going to have to wait for later in the modding process but I am leaning toward it, any suggestion on the model I should get? I'm a fairly non-agressive rider but from time to time I will see where the nanny wants me. It would be a pleasure to have you out here!

Custom Dynamics lights

Just got the Custom Dynamics lights in.

IMG_1041.jpg
looking at all the stuff I got I wish I could just throw the stuff at the bike and make it stick in the right places without all of the work.

I've been tempted t get the fender lights, but they aren't reflective, and the bike needs to be able to fend for itself when I'm not riding it. I'd really like something custom to fit in the channel between the fender and mudflap that wraps all the way around, but the led strips don't bend that way (sideways) so an expensive custom mold would need to be made. Very expensive I'm told.

VTC floorboards

They were picked up by FedEx today and should be here early next week. But if you are thinking about getting these things the shipping for me was over $300 and the duties from Canada look to be some place around $30. So keep that price in mind not to mention they still need paint. The wallet pain level is high at this point and I hope the installation pain level is really low though in the end I get the feeling that I could take it or leave it. I truly hope this isn't the case, so I'm kind of front loading the negative so I'm more easily impressed by it. I will post a bunch of photos next week and maybe a video for the first time.

Your gonna love em, Even with a stock seat and the utopia backrest , where and how you sit on the bike was the most comfortable by far I have ever sat on!

can't wait to hear how your project turns out!

FLOOR BOARDS ARE IN

Thank you to Ticketbait for the photo above, this gives me an idea of what to expect when I am working with these things.

I got the floorboards in the other week but I got the wrong guys floorboards. I ordered a set and some other compnents at about the same time that he did and VTC shipped them out at the same time with the wrong shipping label on them, so he got mine and I got his. floorboards are staying and his stuff is on its way to him just as my stuff is on its way to me. It vexes me a bit that VTC decided to fix this snafu with ground shipping so my stuff wont be here till late this week or early next week but I am not to concerned as I am not going to be playing with that stuff anytime soon. for some reason I can not upload files at the moment but I will upload them as soon as I want to play with this computer more to make it work. The review this far is that these are going to work nicely, the bracket is heavy steel and supports the floorboards from front to back and the floorboards are what seem to be high quality fiberglass. Now I get to see if they fit, so far the hardest part is dealing with the foot pegs, took me 2 hours to take one of them off.IMG_1153.jpg and put the left side on. I put this side on with out the bracket to see what it looks like.
