There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Windshields (I know it's been asked a million times but....)

I'm 5'11" and would like a shield that keeps the highway wind off my chest and arms. Chad seems kinda expensive. Givi has an awesome price. F1 looks like it would help in the hands and arms department. I just want to make sure the first one I buy is the right one. Thanks

FYI - The amount of great mods and detailed information you guys give out is too awesome. :2thumbs:I'm glad I found Spderlovers. Now if there could just be some more riders in WI. I need riders!!!

The Givi is REALLY sharp looking - but it won't work for you at 5' 11". I have one - I'm 5'8" and it just doesn't give enough protection.

F1--- don't even get me going :gaah:

Calsci works okay, better with a Laminar Lip.

Take it from someone that has a collection of Spyder windshields - the CHAD is going to work best for you out of the ones I've tried (BRP, F1 Evo ??, Calsci, GIVI).

I have not personally tried the F1 slider, but for various reasons I wouldn't get one - (the metal rails just waiting to impale you would be a start).

You'll spend more $$$ looking for the perfect shield like I did - when the CHAD gives you the ability to make adjustments. To me, there is no choice.

:agree: A CHAD is a big investment, but it is unlikely to be a gamble due to the adjustability in two directions. Every other windshield discussed in previous threads here has worked for some and not for others. A windshield that doesn't work for you wastes your money.

:agree:I was on the fence about windshields all winter, and finally jumped for the CHAD. Glad I did, wish I had jumped last fall.

I'm 5' 7" and have a Givi shield and I agree with Firefly that it does not give me enough protection. It's prefect for city riding, but if I'm going on a long ride on the highway, I may need something else.

I was wondering . . .

. . . is there any reason that you could not use the CHAD hardware on another windshield?

Tom

I've asked this before but I forgot the information that was posted in reply. :opps:
Where is the best place to buy the CHAD?

I think that I read where Firefly did mount his GIVI shield to the CHAD hardwear to see how well it would work. :dontknow:

Yup - you can mount other shields to the CHAD - just have to line them up and drill new holes. Not sure what the 'un-drilling' is. I just lined up my GIVI on my CHAD, marked it and drilled 4 holes.

It worked pretty well, but now that I trimmed the corners on the original CHAD, I really like how it looks and just have that one mounted. I would expect that IND7(or someone else) would come out with different shields that are drilled and ready to mount to the CHAD.

Thanks FireFly

Thanks for the link and info on using the CHAD hardware, that was helpful. I have been really busy and have not have time to look for it.

I am a short guy and have a CalSci shield on now. I think with the CHAD hardware, it will work much better.

I think Scotty was recommending that the windshield's original holes be plugged. That might help with the structural integrity of the shield or eliminate some noise or dust/dirt flow. That is how I took it, but in any case, Scotty (or Nancy) is THE expert on what Scotty meant.

Thanks again,
Tom

OK, thanks. Now I will remember NMN as the place to order the CHAD.

I tried to order one from Industries 7 back when the CHAD was just coming out. I got scared away (to protect my credit card) by some strange dealings by them or someone posing as them. I posted all about it back then.

The holes on the bottom of my GIVI didn't seem to cause any problems at all - so I just left them open.

CHAD windshield mounting

Could you please tell me how the CHAD brackets are mounted to the console? I hope to go to town to get mine on Friday and I would like to ride the Spyda in to get it and install on the spot - but that does not look doable. Thanks in advance

I got the CHAD - love it! Now I'm only 5,1 and I keep it all the way down and leaned all the way back. When HDX rides it, he's over 6 feet he can adjust it but will ride it where I keep it too - you won't get beat up anymore with too much wind but it will let enough in to where you get some nice fresh air.

Plus I think it looks good - got the one that is black on the bottom. sort of hides those ugly mirrors that stick out so much.
