There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

1 - it looks like you have a chrome windshield mount, could the glare be coming off it and reflecting on the windshield?
2 - Have you cleaned the windshield with windex or some other cleaner that contains petroleum products?
Just some thoughts, I have a 2014 RTS with stock windshield but i have a black powdered windshield mount and don't have any glare problems.

i do have the stock chrome windshield bracket, but I don't think the glare was from there. I will pay more attention next time. I have only cleaned the windshield with water and a soft cloth. I was warned, on this forum, about using windex and petroleum based cleaners.

I also have a 14" RT L, I don't have chrome mounts. I have never had any issues with glare.

I would check to see if the glare is caused by the chrome mount.

If I am going to be riding at night for any distance I wear night driving glasses. Here is a cheap example:

This may sound totally to easy, but clean the windscreen again. This time do not use water and a soft cloth, but rather Plexus or a similar safe cleaner and a new microfibre cloth.
It sounds as if the windscreen has a thin film of crud on it, refracting the light.
If you must use water, add soap and try again, rinsing well.

I'd bet money that you are right. A soap film or build up of atmospheric crud can definitely cause a glare.
I hope this is related closely enough to not be considered hijacking the thread. What is the best way to clean the matte finish of some of the new Spyders - my "Satin Silver" for example. I've always used Plexus on my bikes and really like it, but I don't know if it would damage the matte finish or not. Anyone tried it? What works best?

I use "Downey" to clean my BRP windshield. Almost anything else will degrade the windshield - beware!
If the covering of the chrome bits doesn't rectify the problem, you may have a distorted windshield. Does the glare remain when you move your head to different positions? If it goes away, there are easy fixes to slightly alter the angle of the windshield...

Bob is right. You really should be looking just over a motorcycle windshield instead of through it.

Never Clean With A Circular Motion
Never clean a plastic windshield with a circular motion, always wipe in a up and down or side to side direction only. A circular motion causes scratches caused by cleaning to show up big time in oncoming headlights at night.

Glare on your windshield may have quite a few different origins; NONE of them should be tolerated.
Since this was a night ride; is there any chance that you may have had the start of some fogging on your windshield? With the right temperature and humidity; I've seen this happen on quite a few occasions... :shocked:
I've always looked over the screens. Truthfully; mine are normally "bugged-up" just enough, that looking through them could ruin your appetite!
The use of the wrong cleaners sure can make a mess out of them, so be careful with your chemicals too! :2thumbs:

Real point, and I agree look over rather thru when possible, is that the op should try simple obvious things before masking chrome to test results. Masking chrome or other more intense tests should follow the obvious.
