• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Windshield Arm Broken

I have this replacement arm from noboot and I'm very happy. I know it will never let me down.

This isn't going to get resolved until, like the 2013 heat issue, the Feds get involved.
This is a safety issue.
If the windshield arm breaks while riding at highway speeds, the unexpected blast of air in the operator's face can cause a loss of control potentially causing a life threatening accident.
I recommend the next person who has a broken arm call the NHTSB and report this as a safety issue, then we can all get on board and have our voices heard.
Honestly, so many of those little annoying design issues have been addresed in the new 2014 (yes, even the turn signal switch is better) I can't imagine why something as important as this has been left unchanged.

I repsectively disagree...
It happened that way to mine.
Other than a brief, "What the Hell just happened", there was NO loss of control!
Screaming that the sky is falling; doesn't make it so... :banghead:

Bob, I agree with you. When mine broke I did have that oh crap moment and then I found a safe place to stop. Some duct tape and a bungee got me on my way.

Would you consider making more of them and selling them ?
I'd buy one for sure.

I do have about 6 spares and would love to sell you one, But!!!! The Administrators of this forum would consider me a Vendor and kick me out. I am a 66 year old Spyder Rider like the rest of us and I make the odd improvement to the Spyders, it is definately not a business just a passion.

So if you can convince The administrators then yes I can sell you one.... Cheers

We made our own arm, identical in specs to the OEM arm but 100% better in Billet Alloy and will never Crack or break.

Nice:2thumbs: You should get together with one of our sponsor like Bajaron and let him import a few dozen I am sure they will sell.

I would like one too!

I would PM Lamont and explain what is going on and that you are making these. It's safety in my mind so maybe you can work something out.

No go..........
Maybe you can camp on to one of the existing vendors that may have shown interest.
This is an unfortunate turn.:(

He hasn't shown us any pictures yet...
Or did I miss them? :dontknow:

Yea... I will believe it when I see it :roflblack:

For now those CNC'ed units look like the perfect thing.

I do not know what Lamont charges for advertising but if enough people want the thing and we split it up, we can "fund" the guy!

If you are selling for profit you are a vendor and have to follow the same rules as any other vendor, it's not based on your age, it's based on profit.
Here's the rules of the forum if you haven't seen them but I'm guessing you have.

Lamont, so he can sell if it's at cost and not for profit? Not sure he is willing to do that but wanted to check that is OK?

Bob

I don't care what he does off the board but if he's not giving them away he can't promote them on the board.

YOU SHOULD ALL CONSIDER THIS

:2excited:....Really I am, that " ARM " is a work of art and He should be awarded some kind of medal / trophy etc. for what He has accomplished. And I am not being facetious in saying this , I really mean it......But , and there is always a but......If you get this " ARM " .....have you thought about what you are going to do with it.........I'm serious .......When I looked at this problem, one of the main stumbling blocks was dis-assembling the shaft from the arm.......BECAUSE BRP didn't make it to be DIS-ASSEMBLED after it was made ......I'm not jerking your chains on this......and I'm not trying to throw water on this either......But if you had the " ARM " .....then what...........Even if you have a friendly dealer ( ha ha ) They are not equipped to dis-assemble this part and put it back together...........Now I know Bob is going to answer this post by telling us .....to all just eat some more ice-cream :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::yes::yes::yes::yes:......Personally I think He should Patent it and submit it to BRP, so they can use it to fix this problem , since their engineers can't ....Mikeguyver
