• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wind

So many 'little' things to try

:opps:It can be very frustrating, but like you said, more practice:agree: and try to remember to grip the seat more with your knees for stability instead of the handle bars:thumbup:

Curious, are you ryding with a full face helmet, 3/4, 1/2 or skidlid? As Mikie posted {I had the same problem with the wind .I fought the wind all the time ,when i was behind a truck it would blow me all over.My wife talked me into a new full face helment whith a full cover and a sun screen ,i could'nt beleive the differance the wind problem whent away ! the problem was not the spyder as much as it was blowing my head around causing me to move my body and arms!} maybe switching helmets might give you a little more relief as well:dontknow: Can't hurt to try, right?;)

One other option for you to try, and this is something another RT ryder told me about, and I didn't believe him til I tried it myself.

I usually only wear a baseball cap facing forward, so I feel every little bit of wind turbulence unlike when wearing a helmet, as a helmet does mask much of it from your head. So when my buddy recommended me removing the LOWER clear plastic wind deflectors, I thought he crazy as that was too low to effect anything up toward your head, right?:dontknow: I mean where they are placed, it would seem logical that they would effect wind turbulence around your hips, waist and maybe your torso, but not your head and neck:lecturef_smilie: All I can say, is its very easy for you to check this out for yourself, as its only 2 bolts on each one that holds them on. Undo the two bolts, and remove those wind deflectors and go for a ryde. If your wearing a helmet, you will only notice a marginal difference, but if your like me, wearing a baseball cap, the difference is astounding :clap:Just to claify, I'm referring to these that are directly below the mirrors on the RT:rolleyes:

'Another world' is how someone else described those windmills! I've heard some people that live near them actually have mental issues....like there's aliens constantly looking down on them...:dontknow:

:shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked::shocked: :yikes:

I wear a 3/4 helmet. Hubby removed the lower wind deflectors for today's ride. I felt it made the wind worse on my upper torso. We put them back on and I will take the RT out for another spin later. It was very windy again today, and while I would prefer little to no wind, I am relaxing more

Keep with it, the more seat experience you get, the more you'll Relax & Enjoy

:dontknow:Interesting, just goes to prove, we're not all the same:banghead: I'm glad you tried it tho & could tell a difference, for me, its much less for some reason. hmmmmmmmm :dontknow: ahaaaa, I think I know why. I switched Teds Red Sled back to the 'ole 2010 RT shield, which is close to 2 inches wider and taller than the 11 & 12 RT shields. I wanted more wind protection, especially in winter ryding. That may be why you got such a different result than I:popcorn:

I've gotta say tho, after reading about the shields that CalSci offer for the RT, that's gonna be our next upgrade :thumbup: one of these days:rolleyes:

:thumbup:Keep with it, I'm proud of you for trying so hard:firstplace: More often than not, there's just no replacement for experience and time in the seat tho:2thumbs:

I keep looking at those California Scientific windshields... They appear quite promising... :thumbup:
There's another thread right now discussing them.
