• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WIND IN FACE

New member
I rode an 08 GS up till the time I came home from Spyderfest a few days ago. Since then I have been ryding a 2012 RTS. A very big change in the amount of wind on my face. The RT puts a lot more wind on and around my face. Tried all sorts of windshield heights ect. I have a 25" ultra touring windshield on a Madstad mount on the GS, also Bakerbuilt air wings. This setup puts a lot less wind on and around my face. I thought the RT would be the BEST for wind protection, but doesn't seem so. Any suggestions? Sort of unhappy with all the wind from the RT.

I think that a little bit more information might help...
How tall are you?
What's your inseam? (trying to get an idea of your torso length)
Do you sit forward, or more relaxed in the saddle?

And here's the dumbest question that you'll hear all Month :opps:...
You are aware of the height adjustment capabilities of the RT's windshield? (Sorry!)

Keep in mind that you did a lot to your old ryde to move the wind up and around you; perhaps a different windshield might even be needed for the RT? :dontknow:

As Bob said: A little more information about your size etc.

I came off a GS and had a touring windshield on that. Went to the 2010 RT with the bigger windshield and no problems there. I am 5'5" and inseam 29. A lot of people complained about the 2010 windshields (too big) and they made the 2011 and subsequent smaller. I have a 2011 RT also, and find the windshield to be sufficient.

more info

I am 5'6" tall with inseam of 30". The gs has Corbin seats, and Seal floorboards, so I sit very upright just like the RT. It seems like some of the wind comes from each side of the windshield. Are there other windshields that kicks the wind out to the side more?

I just put the 23" vented windshield on my 2012 RT-S and depending on the setting of the vent I can get as much or as little fresh air as I want. Seems like with the vent just open a crack it sends a stream of air up the inside of the windshield and adds to the lift from the front. I'm 35" tall in the saddle sitting upright.

I'm 5'!0", with a 31" inseam...
I put the 2013 25" OEM windshield on mine. It reduced the buffeting by a very significant amount.
With the windshield lowered, I have no problem looking out over it, yet I can still raise it up and look through it if I want a quieter envelope of air for a while... ;)
I also changed the lower air deflectors to the adjustable ones; they bring the pocket of air closer in around me, but there's less turbulance.

HiYa Neal !!!

Full neoprene face mask with devil clown face !!! :2thumbs: j/k

Its too bad, I just sold my Calsci windshield to Dave & Teddy.
I just bought the CanAm 23" windshield with the closeable louvers.
Works pretty good !!
You & i are same height and inseam. If you go with the 23" CanAm one, it works great, raised or lowered.
Next ride, maybe you should take my bike for a spin.
