• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

will someone put up some positive stories about the spyder

18,500 miles on my 2013 RT-Ltd. I'm one of the fortunate ones that do not have the problems many people are experiencing. We've enjoyed every minute we spend on the Spyder.

My first Spyder was a RED 2009 RS SM5. I farkled the daylights out of it: ISCI hand brake, passenger backrest, Corbin seat with driver backrest, handlebar risers, windshield, bags, pipe, and tons more - put 22 K on it before I decided to opt for comfort & spring for an RT. Other than the DPS fiasco of all the early Spyders, it was bulletproof.

My second Spyder was a black RT S SE5. Over time, I dressed her up too - works shocks, Corbin seat, Seal floor boards, CAT delete and Yosh pipe, and more. It gave me another 24K of trouble free miles.

Now I have my third Spyder, a white RT SE6, and I've started to dress her up too, but this is such an improvement over the prior bikes, I really won't be doing much to her.

All in all - that's 50K miles on Spyders, and never had one let me down. I've been all over the Western US and Canada on these, and was never worried - gas milage & tank size gave me about the same range as my Vrods, so that wasn't an issue. I'm currently planning 3K trip in the late spring, which will cover all of my favorite US roads (and NO freeways/turnpikes). Hope to see you on the road.

Love My Spyder

We have a 2013 RTL, only had a chance to ride 4000 miles this past summer, hope to ride many more next summer. We are planning on Spyderfest in spring. You will LOVE the Spyder.:yes::yes:

Ride safe and happy!

I bought a 2011RSS SM5 last November. Put 2500 mi on it, then traded it for a 2014 RT this August which now has 3200 mi. Everywhere I go people ask about it. It is a 2-toned Cognac over Black done by Cowtown USA in Cuba, MO.

I am loving it. Looking forward for some multi-day or weeklong rydes next summer.:ohyea:

Great Ryde

Glad to see the positive comments. My 2012 been doing good for me too. I don't ride it everyday, but when i do get ready to go it's ready to go. Have not had any issues yet. It only has 7,984 miles on it, but no complaints. It's suppose to be in the 70's today so im planning on getting a good ryde in after work. I've learned you can't enjoy the Spyder riding in fear. Every little abnormality you see or hear isn't a sign of a major problem. All these machines are man made Goldwing, GSXR 1000, M109R, Hayabusa, Triglide, Sportster, BMW, Aprilla and even the Spyder just to name a few and they are not perfect. Enjoy the ride much as possible.

2011 RTS. I have put on 10,000 miles myself. It had 450 when I bought it used.
ZERO service issues or problem other than those I caused myself.
Other than the first 600 mile service, I have done my own service at 4800 and 9600.
No issues doing my own service including belt adjustments.

I am happy so far!:yes::yes:

Owning our :spyder2:'s have been a gateway to much enjoyment for us.

The :ani29: has allowed me to keep my face in the wind after my legs would no longer support the 900# big bikes that I love so well.

The first :spyder2: was a whim and a novelty, but I liked it so well that I bought two more before I had to go three wheels only.

Now, pretty much retired, I am happy that the summer months provide great riding. The winter months provide planning and camaraderie with others of similar interest on the site.

There has been a lot of negativity of late, so a "happy" thread is a good thing.

I've only had my :spyder2: for less than six months, I did get to put almost 4,000 mi on It before the weather turned bad and have not had one problem with It. Starting next year I plan to run the wheels off this RT.:yes:

Only have 12,000 km on my 2012 RTL but they have been trouble free and loved everyone one them!:thumbup:

Too many negative vibes!

I, like so many I read the forums and started to wonder if I had made a large blunder buying a Spyder.
I have a 2014 st Limited in cognac, when I learned to relax and not read all the negative comments I
I found I enjoy this unique machine a great deal more. Too often the only people who write comments are
the few who are having a problem. The majority of the Spyders are dependable and trouble free!

45K

i'm coming up on 45,000 miles of smiles on my '09 RS/SE5....
except for my very 1st issue; Paddle Shift, i've had no other problems.... :gaah:
my ONLY problem is that today, December 1, 2014, it was 72 degrees, 100% sunshine, no wind, and my SPYD3R is in the shop waiting for a new paddle shifter module.....
Scott....
START RIDING.... and after a few hundred miles, you'll thank yourself for keeping your SPYD3R..... more fun than the law allows....  :coffee:

Welcome aboard. The complainers and naysayers are the ones we hear from the most. Those who are happy with their :spyder2:'s are too busy to waste their time listening to complaints.

I have had a glitch here and there, but now own two, have owned five total, and over 100,000 miles. I am not throwing in the towel.

:spyder2:'s are good machines.

SPYD3R, interesting that we have the same year and about the same milage. Have a SM though...

In all my travels, she has only left me on the road twice. One was a delaminated belt, the other was arcing spark plugs wires. Put a set of BahaRon's plug wires in and no worries. Other than that, have had many miles of happy Spydering. Nothing major has happened mechanic wise.

I love road trips and on the Spyder, most of them are solo. Nope, I don't have a worry about Spydee breaking down on the side of the road. Just enjoy the freedom of being on the road. Sometimes Hubby gets anxious about me taking the twisties vs. the highways, but I get home eventually.

One more thing I have to add. SpyderLovers has opened a new world for me. Have met and made friends from New York to Florida to California to Alaska and all parts in between. Another reason to love road trips...

Did I tell you there are some good people right here in Texas?

Yep really love the :spyder2:....wife got hers, a 2010 RT a
couple of years ago, and let me drive it...then I took a test ride on a 13 STS, and said goodbye to my V-star....when we rode up to Spyderfest last year, I got an offer I could not refuse on the 13 for a 14 RT...needless to say, I rode home in comfort on the RT.....love it:2thumbs:....put 3700 miles on mine, and wife has over 10000 on hers....no real problems at all...and planning for many other long wonderful rydes on our Spyders....and the smiles just keep on coming :ohyea:.

I'll CHIME IN

25,000 on my first RT S , 2010 model. Like many others on this site, work gets in the way of my riding. I now have 1600 on the '14 RT S and can see many more miles to come. Seems like I worried about problems but never had any. I would read the forums negative post and let it bother me and worry me into thinking Oh no, I am going to have a problem! Well, I finally quit worrying about it and just rode it like I stole it. NEVER had an issue. I have ran into many people on spyders across the country that have not heard about Spyderlovers. They don't know of a lot of the issues talked about on the forum. In turn they just ride and enjoy! I truly enjoy the Spyder as does my wife. I wouldn't trade the fun we've had for anything and we look forward to many more miles and adventures.

Like Spyder Ann I have over 100,000 miles on Spyders and I was blessed that all three of mine have been incredible. I have another one on order for Feb delivery and based on the test rides I have little doubt that it will add to the FUN.... no matter where or what the forum is about - the nasayers will always take the helm and dominate the posts. If you could take the time to ride I think you could quickly figure out for yourself just how much fun the Spyder can be

Add me to the Happy list. 14 K on a 2008 RS/GS. 26 K on a 2010 RT. No real promblems with the Spyder. the promblem is with me fallling apart. To many years in service, too miles on two/three wheels, lot of years on earth, but I am going to enjoy every bit of it that I can.

My wife never would have gone out and earned her motorcycle license -and ride with me - if not for the Spyder. It is an innovative machine that brings a smile to her face whenever she rides. Hence my desire to rectify the fuel smell.... she wants to keep riding for years to come.
