• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Coming home from a ride today and had the following happen, Stopped for gas and when I went to start I noticed it did not go into neutral upon start. I tried to go ahead and ride it but it will not shift out of first at all. No Neutral, No Reverse, No Codes just stuck in first. Towed to a shop right at 100 miles (Thanks AAA), anyone seen this before?

I know of the original problems the 2010's had which the builletins fixed back in 2010/2011, but I don't remember seeing any issuses such as this. Over 14K miles and this is my only major fault.

have you checked your oil level?

Since the SE5 uses the motor oil for the transmission as well, I've had shifting problems in the past do to a low oil level. On our 2010 RT-S if we didn't keep the oil right at the top of the fill line, we'd have intermittant shifting issues. Not sure if this is the case for you, but its a start. Also, if you run into this issue again, you can manually up or down shift using the wrench in the provided BRP tool kit to get you into gear & moving. The procedure for this is very easy, believe its in the manual as well. Hope they get you up & running sooner than later.

Don't know if this helps, But my friend has a Honda ATV with an auto trans similar to can am's we were pulling it out of his barn and he couldn't get it out of first into neutral to get it started , So while he was looking for the tool to manually put it in neutral i put it on a charger and in a minute it popped into neutral and started right up.

Hope you found whats wrong on your Spyder !!
i have a question: how did you get AAA to accept towing a Spyder? Are you insured with them or only have AAA road assistance?
Thank you.

I have insurance on my autos through ACSC, Progressive for the spyder, they both offer roadside assistance. ACSC offers AAA for RV/Motorcycle that gets you up to 100 miles. I called them first and told the dispatch I needed a flatbed to haul a three wheel spyder and they said no problem.

just as a note I have the roadside assistance through BRP also ,not sure what their mileage limits are.

I had something similar happen on my 2011 RTS. I shut it down, took the key out and walked about 0 ft. away with the ken in hand. I returned and it worked just fine. Moving the key away allowed to codes to reset. Strange but I was told to do it by another Spyder owner and it worked. I've done this process on two occasions, once when it went into limp mode for no reason:dontknow:.

Ride in comfort,

Two weeks and still no idea what is wrong

Are these bikes that complicated or is it that the dealers not fully qualified to repair these machines. I have had it in the shop now for two plus weeks and they still don't know what is wrong. Anyone know a good spyder mechanic in Southern California:banghead::banghead:

My 2010 RSE did the same thing right after I got it.I had about 40Miles on it.The dealer found out it was some kind of shifting solenoid.Did your engine try lurching ahead to try to find neatraul?
Hope you get it fixed soon

Are they Serious

got off the phone with the dealership and they say that BRP has authorized them to do a complete tear down of the engine????? for a transmission problem??? Wow, do we have a resident mechanic on these boards?

Sorry, if the problem is not external...in the clutches, shift solenoid, or shift mechanism, and it is within the transmission itself, the engine has to be torn down. The transmission and engine share the same case on the Spyder (and most motorcycles), so gutting one exposes the other.
