Will a 2024 Sea to Sky let me navigate via my Samsung phone?

Hello all,
I currently have a 2022 RTL and love it; my only concern is NO navigation. Currently, I pair my phone with the bike then my helmet(s), I always ride two up. I use Google maps and stream my Sirius; as it is configured now, both my wife and I can hear the Sirius and the navigation. I am using SENA SRL in Neotech II helmets

My question is, I have a chance to purchase a 2024 S2S but notice it only has iPad Carplay, I have an Android (Samsung) - will my phone connect through the display for Google maps?

Or any suggestions to get what I am looking for?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a 2024 Sea to Sky, and it only supports Apple Carplay, which means no support at all for Android.

Having said that, even the Sea to Sky's support of Carplay is horrible, enough that I will be continuing to use a Garmin Zumo XT motorcycle GPS mounted to the handlebars.
I bought the Zumo XT before CAN-AM released the software update that added Apple Carplay.

And the BRP GO app doesn't work with the 10.25" display on the 2024 Spyder.

So you could continue to use Google maps on your phone.

Yes, you can link your Samsung phone via bluetooth to the 2024 bike. You cannot display the google maps on the bike display as it only supports Apple.

Thanks, so it is like what I have now, do you know if there are any plan to create an Android auto app, kinda strange only supports Apple

I doubt that there's too much in the way of planning to do anything else/thought of supporting Android users going on at BRP at all - after all, as far as the Spyders are concerned, they've only been a 'strictly Apple Only' shop since about 2007/2008, when Spyders first came out - despite there being a fairly extensive Android user base out there... :bdh: :banghead:  :cus:

But if you ask them, you can rest assured that they do listen to their customers about things like this! Just like they have about the crappy Kenda tires; and a shaft drive instead of a belt; and a dealer network/customer support system that actually provides some customer service; and freeing up more of the power their powerplants can & do provide on other platforms; and a fuel gauge/low fuel warning light/clock that's actually vaguely accurate/useful; and giving us Spyders with less of the complex but unnecessary 'integrated digital crap'; and a whole bunch more things that've at the very least been 'iffy' since the word go!! If you don't cry, you've just gotta :roflblack: :spyder:

...kinda strange only supports Apple

Apple has a site for developers with information about integrating with CarPlay.
My understanding is that the Can-Am CarPlay integration was developed by a 3rd party hired by Can-Am.

Android has a similar developer's site: https://developer.android.com/cars
Since Can-Am hasn't released any Android Auto integration, they have apparently decided it's not worth their time, or they haven't found any developer who could get it to work on the Spyder's display.

I am a long time Apple fanboy and iPhone user, but I have not been able to get CarPlay to work correctly on my 2024 Spyder.
Once my iPhone is plugged into the USB port in the glove box, the CarPlay icon is there, I could launch it, it showed maps, and as I drove the maps changed to show my location. And I could enter a destination on my iPhone, and it would navigate to the destination, but with no audio directions. I never was able to get the directions to play in the headset of my helmet, even though both my iPhone and SENA headset were showing up as paired via Bluetooth to my Spyder. I did get an audio message from my Spyder in the headset when I first paired the headset and my iPhone to the Spyder. So the Spyder itself can communicate with my headset, but the CarPlay app could not.

I have given up on CarPlay on my Spyder at this point, but during my first visit to the dealer's service department I will ask them about what they know about getting CarPlay to work correctly.

I bought a 2023 Honda Ridgeline before I bought my Spyder, and it supports Apple CarPlay through the display in the center of the dash. The only quirky thing about the Honda implementation is that sometimes it doesn't recognize that my iPhone is connected, so I have to unplug the USB cable from the dash, and then plug it in again for the Ridgeline to recognize that it's connected. That usually happens if my iPhone is connected to the USB cable, but the screen is locked when I start the engine.

I had a doctor's appointment today, which included the name and address of the doctor's office, which was synced to the Calendar app on my iPhone. Once I started the engine of the Ridgeline and had the iPhone plugged in, I brought up the appointment in the calendar and it gave me the option on my iPhone to navigate to the appointment, and when I told it to navigate it then appeared on the Ridgeline's dash with directions that played through the speaker next to my left foot.

Thank you all who responded, seem like ACP is hit and miss, I am up for a cell phone update, I have always been Samsung, not sure if I want to go that route. Anyway, thanks again, I'll do some thinking

Just an idea :dontknow: -- has anyone tried to connect an old (no cellular service) Apple iPhone using your Android (with cellular service) as as a wifi hot spot for the iPhone?

In theory, it seems that as long as the iPhone connects to the Spyder, all that is need is "service" (wifi connection to Android) to the iPhone. Yes, it adds another device but if you're really determined to keep your Android phone but really want to use the Spyder screen/interface it might be an option. Car Play is compatible for all iPhone starting with 5 and newer and you can get an old iPhone on Ebay for under $50, some 5's for as cheap as $25-$30.

As an update, I do have Apple Carplay working correctly on my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky.
I have a SENA bluetooth headset installed in my helmet, which is bluetooth paired to my Spyder and my iPhone.
My Apple iPhone SE 2nd Gen is connected to the USB port in the "glove box" in front of the handlebars.

Another option might be a Carpuride system, or a Garmin Zumo XT Motorcycle GPS mounted to the handlebars.

Pretty sure the hang tag on mine, which was one of the very first 2024s to be delivered, said something to the effect of "Android Auto is not yet available". To me, that sounds like they might be planning on it, otherwise why mention it at all? I scanned the tag and attached it in case they changed it, or they aren't putting this on anymore.

ACP works great for me once I got a compatible headset. I use it on every ride now.

I'd consider fully bypassing the Spyder and just getting a good holder for your phone - that's what I do with my iPhone, and I don't have to deal with BRP dash, which really never works properly, and it is very limiting. Sometimes the easiest answer is the best.

I also have a '22 RTL and looked into going to a '24 for the new features - ended very quickly with the $15,700 trade-in offer on a bike with under 2k on it. Upgraded screen would be nice, but certainly not $15,000 worth of nice!

Should have led with this, both my bikes have Garmin GPS, much better than other options IMHO.

I agree with Racoon. I also have a 24 S2S and ACP rarely works an entire day without crashing. I'm hoping the latest update I installed Monday will fix all the issues, I'll find out on a ride tomorrow.

About Android on the bike - a Harley dealer told me Android will not license any motorcycle application due to safety reasons.

I also keep a Garmin for trips as the ACP is totally unreliable.

What do you mean by crashing? I have taken many long rides with mine and have had no issues but curious what yours is doing.

I have a Garmin Zumo XT and a Pixel 8 Pro that I use for Google Maps nav. The phone will overheat on really hot days, while the Zumo XT motors on with it's great sunshine readable display. I play music to my Cardo headset from the Garmin Zumo XT/micro SD card installed. i can get turn by turn nav to the Cardo from either.

I use a top-cuff for my Garmin and Samsung phone for navigation. Also, for ACP to fully work, you need a BT headset with at least BT 5.0

Yes to that /\/\

Carpuride sells tablets with both Carplay and Android auto on them via Amazon for under $200. Check their website for compatibiity with Samsungs Note 20 and up and 21/22/23/24. Not all are listed as compatible. BT def needs to be 5.0 preferably 5.2 latest version. My Sena 50S was upgraded to BT 5 and it connects just fine to my 2024 S2S and Samsung Note 20 5g phone. You can use Google maps on the phone to get spoken directions via Maps or Android Auto to headset....
Or you can buy a Carpuride and mount it to see the directions and push the spoken directions via BT to your headset. Or you can buy a cheap tablet $100 and mount with BT 5 and hook that up to AA on phone and headset.
Use 3M 2 sided tape ( 30lb extreme variety ) to stick them to the dash up and out of the way.
Always possiblilities...
:-)

My daughter and I tried to pair her iPhone to my 2024 Sea to Sky. I wasn't trying to pair a headset. The screen states it connected, but the phone didn't. She downloaded the BRP app, but couldn't open anything up.
