Widow Pegs Installation

I have a set of widow pegs for the driver position. Does anyone know how to remove the pin for the stock pegs? Also, the stock pegs are spring loaded to bend. Should you reinstall this spring on the new widow pegs? I am new at motorcycles and I know this is probably really easy, but, I couldn't figure out how to remove the stock pins without damaging the pin retention washer.

If you want to keep the stock pegs, then after you remove them, take the pin retention washer to a good hardware store and pick up a new one. Actually, it should pop off and fly across your garage in pretty good condition.

look under the peg there is a lock washer there it well come off then push the pin up with a screwdriver as you move the peg up down put spring back on same way you took it off

I added a few stainless steel washers (1 on top and 2 on bottom) to shim the new pegs as its adopter is slightly nerrower than stock. I figure it couldn't hurt because the rear pags have a spacer washer on them already. Washer is only 19 cents each at the local hardware store.

You can remove the retention washer by using a plier with just wide enough opening and push the washer off the pin (its gonna go flyin so you better keep an eye on it). Or you can use a very small screw driver and insert between washer and pin then twist to pry the washer loose. When reinstalling spring, insert pin only deep enough to hold top part of the adopter. Use a beefy plier to push spring's main body into position and tap the pin down thru the spring with hammer while holding in the spring. Repeat this on the other side. Oh, by the way, I took ALL the screws out of my Widow pegs and blue locktite everyone of them. I highly suggest you do the same.
