• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why Spyders Airbox Is The Way It Is.....

I agree for a stock Spyder you may want to leave the airbox alone. However, as you modify the Spyder the airbox becomes too restrictive.

The best performance mod. I have added is the race intake. The Spyder now runs cooler, faster, and is much easier to work on without the airbox.

air intake?

Would this be the tube that extends the intake to the front vents?

Thanks, I see however your mod does come with some compromises. I was just looking for a way to run a little cooler.

Ahh, you caught the noise thing, huh? The race intake, plus the JB, really does produce a fair amount of very noticeable increase in performance.

However, the intake noise was deafening... to me. Others, however, can stand it or get used to it. I would never, ever, consider a trip with it. Maybe around town... but not for days at a time.

However, why are you worried about running "cooler"? Have you had a seven-bar limp mode scenario?

It's not excessively hot until that happens. I've had mine for a year and a half... run from three to six bars, depending on what I'm doing (mostly four or five)... but never seven... the limp mode.

Typically, the fan comes on at five bars and then keeps it cool enough to to not hit limp mode. I think, personally, a gauge may have been a mistake (at least, psychologically) . Most folks worry too much about "how hot is too hot"... I did, too, for a while.

The previous statements are my personal opinions and are based on my own experiences. I believe you can check here later and find any number of opposing views. :D
