• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why key on when moving

Why does the key have to be on when you push your Snyder if you do not have parking brake set. I talking moving it just around shop and driveway page 47.in Manuel. Thanks

AFAIK, your key doesn't need to be ON to push your Spyder around without the Park Brake on?! What is it that leads you to think it does? Does your manual say it does? :dontknow:

You do need to make sure the steering isn't locked (ie, the handlebars turned to full lock in either direction & the key turned as far as it'll go anti-clockwise) and if you stopped & turned the Park Brake on when you stopped, you'll need to turn the key back ON for just long enough to switch the (electric) Park Brake on &/or off - so maybe BRP wants you to leave it on all the time you're rolling it so that you can quickly put it back on if required??

However, your Park Brake does need to be OFF to allow the Spyder to roll anywhere. :ohyea: But then you can turn your key off without locking the steering &/or putting the park brake on; wait out the 'Park Brake not set' alarm (it only goes for about 30 seconds); then your Spyder will be free to steer & roll around as you like, all without the key turned on.

Help any?? :dontknow:

You will find a couple anomalies in the manual like that. It should maybe of said to turn key on to release parking brake. Good question to ask if you are confused. That's how we learn.

The manual probably wants you to have the key on when you are moving the Spyder around by hand so that when you're finished with moving it you will set the parking brake and then when you turn off the key you won't get that alarm in French Morse Code that says, "Hey moron, you forgot to set the parking brake!"

Here is what my manual for 2018 RT says:

Pushing the Vehicle
NOTE: Before pushing the vehicle, ensure the ignition key is in the ON position.
CAUTION Avoid pushing the vehicle on a slope. If you must push the vehicle on a slope, take extra care to stay within reach of the brake pedal in case the vehicle starts to roll.
To move the vehicle a short distance without starting the engine:
1. While seated on the vehicle, push down and hold the brake pedal.
2. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL (SM6 model).
3. Disengage the parking brake.
4. Dismount on the right side of the vehicle, keeping your foot on the brake pedal.
5. Push the vehicle, using the brake as needed.
CAUTION Only push from the right side, so you can reach the brake pedal. Stay clear of the hot exhaust pipe.
When pulling the vehicle backward, be careful that the front wheel does not roll over your feet.
6. Remount the vehicle and park as specified above.

I concur with what was mentioned earlier, it's likely to keep the parking brake alarm quiet.
