• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Why does'nt BRP fix the RT turn signal return ?

Grateful

Nice to know that I only have 3 years and 18,000 miles to go before my factory installed equipment works as it should off the floor! :ohyea:
After about 2 1/2 years, and now about 23000 miles, it seems that the center "off" position has worn in.
In other words, I don't seem to have the left/right/left/right problem anymore.
Now I can turn off the turn signal by simply pushing in the turn signal button into the center position.

I am not mechanically inclined. I have trouble using my left hand due to a spinal injury. Have any of the mechanics tried changing the turn signal :duh:spring switch to a 3 position toggle switch?
Getting a different switch to play nicely with the canbus system would be... problematic!

John, (Jthornton), found a little bit of interference between the switch and the housing; contact him for a thorough explanation.

It will be interesting to see if the problem still exists in 2013 RTs! Hope BRP is listening....

Good. I'm glad it's not me. I've been riding on 2 wheels for the last 25 years and have never had a problem canceling the turn signal. I've owned my 2013 RT-S for 2 months now and I still can't get the POS to cancel when I want it to. So just for the record, the problem still exists with the 2013.

Just had my switch assembly replaced and completely fixed the problem. Mine is a 2011 RT-S SE5. (My second 2011 by the way and the first never had the problem). Definitely a QC problem. Also fixed an inconsistent reverse selector button. I'd say insist on a replacement, it worked wonders for mine. Thanks Rob's Performance in Johnson Creek Wi. Fixed while on the road from Flarda. (Lol Chris)

The operators manual states: Turn signals will automatically turn off after 30 seconds while the vehicle is moving.

I do agree that the green indicators are hard to see in the dash.

My 2013 cancels every time you push the button. My 2010 wouldn't ever cancel ever on the first push usually after 3 or 4 you could get it.

I really wish they had used the type of button that they had on the safety course bikes...the kind with an actual cancel button in the middle of the turn signal button. Way easier to cancel without having to take your eyes off the road or accidentsll signal the other way when trying to cancel.

Lane Change feature...

Sounds like the 2013s work better than earlier models.

What is really needed is a Lane Change feature that provides 4-6 flashes then automatically turns off. This would ensure you dont have to glance down at the dash every time you do a lane change on the highway. That would be a major safety improvement!

(most autos & trucks now offer this feature as standard equipment!)

I had my 2011 changed under warranty a few months back, works fine now. I agree on a lane change feature, would be nice and safer. BRP has alot of fires to put out, I doubt this is even on the radar. (pun intended :roflblack:)

OK. I think I have something positive to add to this thread. I have trying everything I can think of to get the turn signal to cancel cleanly and I finally think I've figured it out. Assuming that pushing the switch left or right to initiate the signal is at 90 degrees and pushing the switch straight in to cancel is at 0 degrees, what I do is lightly push the switch at a 45 degree angle on the side that is signaling. So in English, if I'm turning left while changing lanes, when I want to cancel the signal, I quickly stab the switch 45 degrees to the left and it cancels every time. I've been doing it for a week now and I'm almost at a point where I don't have to check to make sure it canceled.

My 2013 cancels every time you push the button. My 2010 wouldn't ever cancel ever on the first push usually after 3 or 4 you could get it.

It still cancels every time, but now the right turn signal has to be clicked 2-3 times to get it to turn on

I think this was covered in another thread... but I've tested this myself on my 2012 RT.

They will turn off on their own after a lane change... takes around 10-12 seconds.
