• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Refused to ride on back of hubby's 2 wheels because of multiple back surgeries. Hated being left at home on beautiful riding days. Saw the Spyder, problem solved. It's mine, all mine. :D

why I got a Spyder

Didn't see this in any polls on the general forum. I'm curious as to what reasons folks had towards purchasing a Spyder in particular. You have $15k-$30K to spend.. you can afford some nice touring motorcycles or trikes or a sports car as opposed to a Spyder.

Myself. Me and the missus have street bikes and dirt bikes, but neither of us wanted a touring bike. The Spyder is our "RV" for trips longer than a few days; two up and loaded down.

I had wanted to rack up a lot of miles on a bike after reaching the older man status, and my wife was not a two wheel rider, and I want us to be able to enjoy one another so she felt safe on the spyder, and that settled it for me. I enjoy spending time on the spyder but enjoy my wife much more. I even let her pick out the color, I was thinking white, but she felt the red was able to be seen better. So I get the pleasure of picking out the mods. I have had it a little over a year, and have almost 25 thousands miles.:spyder2:

Amy just didn't feel safe anymore on the back of my Harley Ultra Classic. The bike was just too top heavy and a pain for me to hold up at stops. We wanted something more stable with 3 wheels. The Harley Tri-Glide was over $35K and looks like something built in the 80's. A Goldwing conversion was also out of my price range. The cost of the bike then another $12K+ for the conversion. The Spyder was not only the least exspensive solution but it also looks great and is current in technolgy. So far of all the open air rides I have owned this has been the best! :firstplace:

I was looking for a 1980 Harley to restore. Went to a boat show for something to do one day and ran into this funny looking 3 wheeler. 3 weeks later grabbed 2 of my friends and made them take a demo ride with me. 2 days after that I put $1000.00 in the dealer's hand and ordered my 2008 SE5 GS. Got it 7 months later and 39,000 miles after that I still love it.

Love bikes

Harley rider for many years. STROKE. Went to a Honda trike but shifting was still a problem. Spyder gives me all the controls on my right side. Thats want I needed to be back on the road.

:D..............:clap:......................:yes::yes:

When I first had a chance to demo ride the 1st edition spyders back in 2008, I knew I was hooked. I thought that they were the coolest and most fun vehicle ride. I purchased the red 2008 GS which has given me over 50,0000 miles with very few mechanical issues in the time that I've owned it. For a while back in the 1st couple years that I've owned it, I was the only guy in my local area to be seen on a spyder. I sort of felt like a celebrity when stopping places, especially at fuel pumps to get gas. People were just fascinated and curious over the spyder. Most of the time I just took in all in and was ok with it, but sometimes I just really didn't want all that attention. Now were going into the 2013 model year and I'm getting the ST and RT bug in my thoughts. I just can't decide on which I really want.:dontknow:

Anterior and posterior L2-S1 fusion. C5-6 fusion. ICD after massive heart attack Jul 2010. Did'nt want to chance tipping or trying to hold up a Wing or a Vision. Besides, ya gotta be different......dont ya:clap:

My wife and I decided it was time to go to three wheels when riding two up, due to my legs and hip. We picked the Spyder because it was more stable, comfortable and looked cooler than any of the "regular" trikes out there.

Still like to ride two wheels, just don't do it that often.

Never liked two wheels. Even though Bruiser is an excellent rider, wouldn't ride on his Vulcan. We got the Spyder RT in 2010, and after a while, I wasn't content to ride on the back all the time. Bruiser taught me how to ride, and now we have two Spyder RTs. Did try to take the motorcycle safety course on two wheels, and after the motorcycle landed on my ankle, that was just confirmation to stay on 3. Never rode before in my life, but I am now and loving every minute of it!!

stoplights

Hi i originaly bought the :spyder: to stay upright at stoplights but now im hooked :ohyea: plus its hard to put a wheelchair rack on a 2 wheeler.
cheers mick :doorag:

Getting up in age and wanted three wheels under me. If I could have bought a Wing trike for the same price I would be riding a Wing.

well, here we go...back in 2001, I took the motorcycle safety course...bought a 750 Honda Classic....never found a happy place...after 1 1/2 years sold the 750 with 250 miles on it...then some nerve damage in right hand, won't go into that....I just settled in as a passenger and was happy...we had sort of been looking at Spyderlovers for about 2 years.....then in May of 2010...Mark is gone for about 3 weeks...I'm retired so I needed things to do...so I started looking at Valkyrie trikes..just never felt right...then the day Mark was coming home...I found a 2009 RS Spyder with 1700 miles on it...he and I went to see it....no hand brake...works with my bad hand...it felt like it was designed just for me...I was riding the Spyder in parking lot and got back over to Mark and seller and Mark had made a deal...bought the Spyder on a Monday...on thursday we left for Tucumcari, NM and put over 2000 miles the 1st week.....now I have over 52,000 miles and love it more today than the day I bought the Spyder

The first one (2009 RS "Sport Touring Edition") was forced upon me by my wife as a retirement present.............the second one (2011 RT Ltd) was a "divine appointment" again forced upon me by my wife!:roflblack: It's a long, long story!:lecturef_smilie: Did I mention that I wouldn trade her (the wife) for anything!

Meniers? Sweetie has been developing symptoms and she doesn't ride some days. I'm afraid she will have to give up two wheels someday. :(

Better to be safe than sorry!! It got me before I was smart enough to stay off 2 wheels. I Kind of learned the hard & painful way!!
