Any risk of overfilling when you do that?
Probably not......because the fuel comes spitting out the vent holes/slots rather abruptly (and violently if you are running it too fast).
I've had that happen often enough that I now only give it one "top off" squirt with the nozzle pulled out a bit.
IF.....you get it filled to the intended point, which is designed to leave some air in the top of the tank, and the fuel gauge doesn't indicate "FULL", then you have a gauge problem, which is fairly common.
