• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Whose Got Street Magic RT Scuff Guards?

Do these offer some amount of additional support to the air wings?
Or are they mainly just for looks and to keep from scuffing the air wing?

I have had the scuff guards in place for over a year now. They stiffen up the wings marginally and are meant to provide protection for the wings when you want to rest your feet on them. Without them you would end up scuffing the wings if you chose to use the wings as a quasi highway peg.

You can by no means put your full weight on these, but if you are looking to use them as "foot rests" they are a good purchase. Not highway boards, but they do the job for me.

It is also important to note that placing your right foot on the scuff guard during hot weather will put your foot in the line of fire of the radiator fan exhaust. Not recommended if you like to wear sandals when you ride.

A good simple mod and a quality product IMHO.

Thanks NOrthstar....good info. Were they hard to install?

As to heat, I solved that prob with a Spiderpop cover on the top port, and one of my own making on the bottom. ( Also added his Cat sheilds which helped considerably. ) I took off the belly pan, and then enlarged the hole on the remaining pan/cover? making more room for the hot air to exhaust. Also glued some rubber around the inside edges of the panel cover to further block any hot air exhaust. Now I ride with sandals with my foot propped on the air wing, but am reluctant to relax the leg. Sounds like the guards will be a good addition.

Temps here have been in upper 90's bordering on 100 and unless I get into slow traffic the rad fan doesnt' come on.

Install

The scuff guards are a very easy install and come packaged with the installation instructions. Just have to remove the wings, drill a few holes in the plastic, affix the scuff guards and remount as instructed. Should take no more than one hour if you move at a leisurely pace.

Completed a 4,600 mile trip out west and used the scuff guards regularly as an alternative foot position. They worked very well and made the trip much more comfortable. Cowtown did the install so I can't comment on that.

:agree: Agree with the other posts. I like mine, easy to install, provide limited support to the wing, definitely cannot stand on these things, a cheaper alternative to full highway peg setup. Would buy these again.

Great low-cost mod +

Teddy has these also, as they came on his SpyderFest Limited EdDition :spyder2: from Cowtown. At 1st, as we didn't have the SpyderPops Missing Air Damn, as others have stated, they were basically useless after 5 minutes, due to baking your foot. But we got the missing air damn installed and WOW, AMAZING:clap:

As noted, you can't put a lot of weight on them, tho they do give you 2 aluminum support brackets to put behind them for added stability, & they are much needed:shocked: so don't forget to install them as well:joke: & you should be a Happy Camper:clap:

We just returned from a 2000 mile trip from Cincinnati to SITA this past weekend:thumbup: and the Scuff Guards were a very welcomed addition for having another position for your feet/legs. One other suggestion I would make, if you haven't already, is to add the Utopia Backrest:thumbup: Another Great product at a reasonable price:agree: The combination of having the Scuff-Guards & Back-Rest, along with cruise control, and we were cruising in total comfort, as you can literally kick back & relax, especially on those long highway stretches:2thumbs:
