• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

.....They’ve gotten this wear factor down to just about Zero Forrest. But the valve seat contact area still wears at about the same rate as it did in the 60’s. It’s not much but it’s more than the virtual zero of the other components.......
Actually it has gotten worse, thanks to no-lead gas.

Can I vote once the winner is announced and then say " I KNEW IT !" ?

:dontknow:.....:D

A ever growing motto here (USA) seems to be vote early and vote often:roflblack::roflblack:

Here on SL you only get 1 vote per name holder:lecturef_smilie:

:dontknow:Forrest how many different log ons can you come up with??

:helpsmilie:Has Doc even voted yet:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

I have read articles that claim improvements in metallurgy have offset increased wear due to changes in the fuel (no lead). No way for me to argue that point and I'm sure there are people on both sides of that issue too.

2 so far... He's slowing down on creating the log ons... And he better pick up the pace since Lamont can't track down if all the new accounts are coming from the same IP (not yet?) :D

They have done very well, especially the BMWs. BMW had severe valve seat problems with the first no-lead. They changed the metallurgy and traded for severe valve wear. Now they have it balanced pretty well. The fuels also have some new additives that help a bit. Valve/seat wear is still faster than follower/cam wear these days, but it is not anywhere near as rapid as it used to be when no-lead wad introduced. That's why guys are putting lots of miles on their Spyders before they need valve adjustment. Eventually they will need to be adjusted, however.

I am honest.... I WON....

As stated the valves do not get tighter. the wear keeps the valve more open thereby damage...

Will this wear be the same if I use full or semi synthetic oil. Maybe the choice of oil will dictate if you need larger or smaller shims. Or maybe, just maybe, the choice of regular or high test fuel will make a difference. ....... Just adding a few things in here to help ya out Forrest.

Forrest doesn't need any help. He's bent the time/space continuum to the point that down is now up... Tight valves are now loose, and losing is winning.

Muslims will be hugging Christians if Forrest keeps this up!
