There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Who here has *actually used* their BEST Warranty (either regular, *or* extended)?

Note: I added the 4th question below, figure that helps out folks reading this thread understand and appreciate what's covered under warranty.

I saw in a different new rider thread the oft-mentioned Spyderlovers recommendation to purchase the extended warranty on the Spyder.

Like most of you, I did the same when I bought my Spyder three years ago; still got two more years to go on my extended warranty. Thankfully, I haven't had to use it.

That said, I'm always a skeptical sort, and it strikes me as surprising that I genuinely can't recall ANYONE using their BEST warranty in all the years I've been here at SL.

Actually, that's not true-- I do recall a few threads of people *failing* to get warranty coverage for their work.

So, these are my questions:
1. If you used the BEST warranty, was it honored? If not, why was it denied?
2. Did you use the warranty during your stock warranty time, or during your extension?
3. If you used your warranty, either successfully *or* unsuccessfully, if you could do it over again, would you choose to buy the extension again?
ADDED QUESTION #4. If you used it, what did you use it for?

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I used it; it was honored with no problem (with either BRP or the dealer), and I used it in the extended period, and I would to it again.

Got it, never used it. I still have 'bout a year left on it.

Like most insurance it is better to have it and not need it than the other way around . 1 decent repair will pay for it.

Got towed to a dealership, and had numerous parts repaired under warranty in March . . . I'm glad I have the warranty and would buy the 3 year BEST again . . . it is nothing more than another form of insurance . . . you hope you never need it, but it's good to know it's there . . .

I have used it twice both times with out issue. one time with original for water pump and extended for real air shock.

Would do it again for sure....

I got the extra two years with my 2013 that I bought at the end of the year. If it wasn't free I wouldn't have done it..but that's because I won't keep this one two years most likely. Give me a revamped RS-S for 2015 and I'm trading in.

YES

Used twice on my '10. 3 year extended BEST was part of my '14 package. BRP was giving 2 years and I added the 3rd. Would not be without. Excellent service no issues to use.:thumbup:

Karyl, shoot me a PM and explain what you said above ......Thanks MIKE

my clutch lever pivot broke ... had to replace the casting ... bill was over $500, all I paid was the $50 deductible. 2011 RT in the first year of the extended warranty.

I have a 2008 SM5. The clutch basket came loose from the crankshaft. That left the clutch lever non-operational while I was doing 55MPH. By luck and the skin of my teeth I made it over to the side of the road without stalling in the middle of traffic. I had to be flat bedded to my dealer.

When the dealer told me that the bolt that holds the clutch basket loosened up, probably due to the lack of loctite (poor assembly), I contacted BRP and was given a little compensation.

frunk cable not covered

On my Wife's 2011 RT the frunk release cable quit working it was not covered by the extended warranty. The air bag at the rear suspension has a very slow leak and is also not covered by warranty neither of these are real high dollar items we had the frunk cable replaced and I will just monitor the slow leak in the air bag suspension. we bought the best + warranty back when BRP still offered them for the Spyder's
If you are not familiar with the Best + it pays for all of your service for the first two years and regular warranty for three more years after that so we made sure we had enough miles on it to get that 14,000 mile major tune up before it ran out ( now that was a great warranty ) no longer offered.
I am still glad we bought an extended warranty so if anything major happens we are covered till July 2016 and it gives me peace of mind as my Wife and her Sister just rode her Spyder from Seattle to Ohio towing a trailer to visit Family. It took them four long days and they averaged about 24 MPG.

I've used mine twice since the original warranty expired on my 2011RS,first was two weeks after the OW expired, my ECM failed and left me with one working cylinder,I was able to limp home as it was only about 5mls. but had it flat beaded to dealer,no problem getting it fixed($50 deductible and couple of days for part) next was a bad purge valve that was causing hard starts,Tech PJ found when doing reg. service,I tought my battery was going. BEST did not fix my broken rear fender as it was not Drive Train, was considered cosmetic,I disagree as it could cause an acedent, but had to have it welded by another shop. All in all I am glad I bought it and would buy it again, these :ani29: are expensive to fix and do brake.

We didn't buy the best warranty offered buy Can Am but did buy another Zurich - we have used once for towing, and once for a paddle shift replacement.

Warranty work - some within the first 2 years, some after, using BEST +

Warranty repairs first 16,000 miles

Emissions canister & purge valve / replaced
Front wheel bearings & ball joints / replaced
Fuel system leaks / replaced clamps as needed & fuel filter
Water pump & radiator / replaced
SE thunmb shift switch / replaced

All repairs submitted to, and approved by BRP prior to work being done.

Zero warranty repairs between 16 and 22+K - warranty expires May 2016 and wish it could be extended.

Don't understand on what grounds they will not cover your rear suspension. The suspension system is covered by BEST protection. Don't really understand the cable either but that one is pretty minor.

I have used it to have my park brake repaired, dealer said no problem. I will always purchase an extended warrenty on such a complex piece of equipment.

Good luck

1. Yes
2. During extension
3. Yes
4. All sorts of things...of course not normal wear and tear. Our dealer ship always honored it.
