Does this just connect all the wires together or does it keep them separate? Do you even need the gray block?

I guess you mean these?
With the lever pressed down it makes contact to the wires & hold in place:thumbup:, generally cleaner (Y) connection (one wire in two wires out) and allows easier maintenance for removable parts like fenders, no splicing & tape.

I was also wondering if you really need the gray block? I can not reinsert the wires in it and wonder if I just tie all the wires together will it work.
