• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Which to buy rt or rts? Do

I went with the base 2014 RT SE-6 and added the fog lights. I'm very happy with it. As mentioned, you still get the great 2014 improvements and you can, over time, add other components you'd like.[/QUOTE]

I did that with my 2010 A&C... it took me a bit over three years to bring it fully up to, and beyond; RT-S specifications...

This time; the Missus made me get the LImited model. She must have thought that it meant, "LIMITED opportunities for farkling" :roflblack:

We looked at a 13 ltd and for the same price we bought the base 14 rt se6 and we are very happy with our purchase. We added Web Boards and a back rest and a sheepskin seat cover. It has all of the bells and whistles we need. Radio, cruise adjustable windshield. We will ad the extra lights at a later date and we will install a GPS mount. The extra $$ for the LTD was not in out budget. We are spending that money on ridecations.

we got the RT S the front and rear heated grips, fogs lights, air suspension, front trunk liner and light i would have added all this stuff it seamed better for me just to get the RT S just enjoy what you pick out

Does front and rear heated grips come standard on the 2014 RTS?

yes that is part of the RTS package

Thanks...I thought so but I saw a couple places on the BRP website where it did not mention it as standard so was curious if that was something they changed. Glad to hear they didn't! Those have been handy on my 2012 during the winter :2thumbs:

I agree

Congratulations on the new purchase. I'm glad you posted the question as I'm in the same situation. For me the RT-S is the spec I'd like, prefer the darker wheels and it has the running boards etc. The question is compounded in the UK because we only get the rts in white or cognac. My preference is black. The base rt is available in se6, but only in black.

I'm firmly in the '14 camp for many reasons and am seriously considering the base model. In the UK the foglamps and leds the rts should have didn't make it for homologation reasons. Conversely, the base rt gets the same glass headlamps that the fogs go in, so aside from the dark components the differences in spec between rt and s are;

rider footboards
front trunk lining and light
heated passenger grips
Adjustable rear shock unit (same shock though)
normal fenders as opposed to refined fenders
secondary gauges

the difference in price is £3500 which is I guess like $6k. Of the above, i think footboards and trunk lining are the only must haves for us, the new fenders do look nice but I can live without them. This gets me my preferred colour, all else I can sort over time.

I'm not sure I agree on resale value, over here the Spyder is dear, the lower price point of the RT and the better value it represents I don't think the S will sell for £3.5k more than its equivalent age/mileage RT counterpart. As said already, the RT already has a generous package, its only putting them side by side through brochures etc that you notice the differences. To a used buyer an rt is an rt, it has stereo. check, adjustable windshield check the rest comes down to if you want dark wheels or chrome as the remainder is negligible imho and can be added.

I also like that the base RT gets other black plastics, on the windshield and panniers, it has black panels, instead of the aluminium coloured highlights which the S gets. If I could get the S in black it would have made it easy for me and saved me hassle of powder coating parts later, but as things stand, we're thinking the base RT at the moment with addition of possibly rider footboards and frunk liner!

The alternative was an RTS and respray it Scandal green but for the extra outlay including the spray, I'm struggling to justify what is already an expensive purchase.

cheers

I agree the Rt has the new engine the new trans. when it comes time to sell price matters. Let the next guy buy the mods. Im getting the RT!! Don't care for the black wheels on RT-S anyway

IMO it comes down to whether you ride with a passenger on a regular basis. If you do the RTS is the obvious choice. If you don't The RT gives you all the basics and you can add the extras such as fog and led foot boards and back rest plus nicer wheelsIMHO for less than an RTS. If your happy with the suspension without the finger tip adjustment the RT gives you all you need with money to do the farkling you desire.

It's a fair point Maxson, I only ride solo or with my young son on the back, if I was swapping between solo and full size pillion the air compressor kit would be a useful feature, albeit one that can be retro fitted to an RT for £500, so unless you want the rest of the RTS kit, you could still fit to an RT and save a chunk of cash.

Me, I like the blacked out components, if it was available over here in black I think I may have gone the RTS route over the RT, although I've managed to bag RTS wheels and handlebars with delivery miles from the states for a very good price, just need the foot support castings and footboards which aren't cheap new and a few other bits. It'll be a nice winter project for me!

cheers

I went with the base 2014 RT SM-6 and added the fog lights, this is my first Can Am. The only other option I would wanted if they were available for the manual shift are the floor boards.

I have the basic RT, 2013, I had to put floorboards on mine , I went with the Spyder leg comfort boards, they are tilted slightly , so your foot rest at an angle, Love them, you can really strech out on them to, check them out they are 1 of our sponser's.You can get them in chrome or powder coated.:ohyea:

RT verse RTS

Was at a dealer up here in Canada yesterday. There is a $3000.00 base price difference between the 2 up here. The only thing I
would want extra on the RT is a Gps I can buy a real nice GPS for 3 grand
