• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Got a great deal (me thinks) on the Fog light kit for "Marlene". They'll be under the tree....
Will add to them AND the headlights by going HID via ESI...HOWEVER...the Fog light HID is only available in 8000 K and the
Headlight is available in 6000 K and 8000 K...looking for input.
I thought get one 6 and one 8...then I figured "No...ask on the forum section."......so what's the concensus?

six and eight combination or both 8's...I dunno...need help.

Sorry if this is a 205 but could use some advice...thanks in advance.
I do love and appreciate all the info readily available here.
Compliments of the season to all.

/standby for a flood of opinions. This is about as hot as asking what oil or fuel octane to use. btw; these numbers are based on the Kelvin scale of color temperature

so, here's mine.

I vote for the 6k and I personally use 5k in the headlights and the fogs. My decisions was based on what my eyes believe to be the greatest range for light. The 5k-5.8k range is also the range that photography studio lights live in. It's also where all my photography strobes and on-board flashes pop at.

here's is a handy little chart to reference.

edit;
here's a photo from a trip out to MooseHead Lake last summer.

6k is whiter light...if the fogs are already 8k, then the 6k will give you more spectrum and more visibility...will they look funny together, no!

It all comes down to personal choice...whichever you get you'll be happy with as they both will give you more light than stock...

I have 2 mods ahead of my HIDs...but Evan will be hearing from me sooner or later...

I prefer the whiter light of the 6K units, but if both headlights and foglights are equipped, then they should match. JMHO.

all 4 with 8k.

That is also how i have it... reason; they should match.. it just looks better in my opinion...

just my 2 cents...

I thought the 6k actually 'projected' more light...hmmm...

I had some aftermarket 6K lights, but the light seemed like it shined off to the sides more than out in front. It may have been the manufacturer though. I do get the occasional high beam flash from oncoming cars, but that lets me know that they see me coming.

6k & 8K

;) Well...the lights were well recieved and we're now "in talks" regarding the HID upgrade, and installation [dealer]....(the best choice BELIEVE me...I'm not touching her machine...just ask....been harshly scolded for leaving something on the seat! ..scary stuff...)..:lecturef_smilie: anyways...I have HID's on my bike...LOVE 'EM.."Marlene" is now being shown this forum...I knew I was safe posting because she's not too 'forum' friendly/savvy.... YET....this whole thing (though a GREAT idea) must be staged per fiscal feasability....so ONE installation fee...thus saving and purchase of both will be in Jan/Feb....installation a bit after that....personally 'yatman' likes the one six one eight wider spectrum position...but..ahem...it isn't MY ride...thus she must study the evidence before I Paypal ESI :chat:
so for now I close..."Merry Christmas" and Thanking & wishing
all forum readers well....

Hey Dave01,
Did you have to aim the headlights lower after installing the 8000k lights...? I just installed them and they're possibly blinding other drivers... :yikes: it was just one driver who decided to pull over and let me pass... :ohyea: or maybe he just wanted to see what kind of vehicle was blinding his rear view mirrors... lol...

thanks
Dennis
