• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. What a day we've had...
Snowing here at 7:45 am this morning; we head out for about an hour and twenty minute drive to a Jeep Dealer... looking at a Jeep Liberty with a lot less miles, and a lot newer tires than my Silverado.
The roads aren't too bad; we get there, and make a deal on the little critter!
As we leave; the snow catches up to us... We drive back down the thruway to Kingston (one exit) in whitout conditions... :yikes:
The rest of the day had us heading out to Walton to cry in the dealer's showroom, and then let the Missus get some fabrics for her next quilting project...
HOLY MOLEY!! Rte 28 heading West out of Kingston was a nightmare!! blinding snow, roads slicker than snot, cars and trucks in ditches... and this Silverado has about the worst tires imagineable on it for these conditons. I swear; it could get stuck on a dogturd... :gaah:A barely legal amount of tread left is NEVER enough!
Got stuck on onle long grade; along with about six minivans full of metrosexuals who think that snow is pretty, and you drive on it just like you do on dry pavement... :banghead: A bag of dirt later, and I leave them in a spray of dirt and snow! :D
After a three-hour white-knuckle ride that should have taken no more than ninety minutes; I pull into the dealer's lot... Fortunately; THIS County's road crews know what they're doing, so the roads have been reduced to being just wet...
The bike ain't there... "By the end of the Month", was the best that I could get...
The Missus picked up enough quilt to make a four-masted Schooner jealous, and we headed for home.
...And off again to deliver a chair that won't be delivered without a truck... Gott take care of sister-in-laws...
Home; start pulling junk out of the truck, type up some insurance cards for the dealer; rmeind them that I need the loss payess's information for the binder...
And then I come in here to relax after a very trying day...
Thank goodness, for really good friends! :2thumbs: nojoke

That reminds me why I chose to live in the desert. At least you have a short commute. Did I mention the nice ride I took today?

All I did was go to a nice restaurant with my wife, my son, and his girlfriend . . . and he paid! . . . and I don't feel guilty at all!

we just took a short ride today, have several folks meeting up for a ride and lunch tommorrow.

Glad you made it home safely, have a better day tommorrow my friend.

Pshaw... In northern Utah that was my winter daily commute to High School in a '62 VW beetle. Could either go the short route over the mountain (sometimes it was snowplowed in on the other side :gaah:), or go the long way around through the canyon. :yikes:

Lived in a valley with three ski resorts within ten miles. Roads became tunnels.

Made alot of money with Dad's tractor pulling cars out of the ditches...

so..!!

you had fun...I would tell you about my day but prefer to remain a person with friends....glad your home safe..!!

Hey, Bob!!! Wanna go up to the plateau next weekend? We can beat around up there a little and enjoy the snow. When I get bummed I just take the Little 380F out back and flog it. When I dragged the Christmas tree up to the burn pit with it I decided to hit the "jump" next to the garden. Picture it for me Bob: a big man on a sled pulling a Christmas tree through the air at 50mph for about 15 yards. Congrats on getting home safe, hope the winter is not too long and that we get to see you on the new ride real soon.

Just sayin'............

 Sigh...
Thanks for helping improve my mood!
I had not seen roads that were so poorly maintained during a storm in YEARS... :yikes:
NY Route 28 is the major thoroughfare running West out of Kingston. It actually runs right past the Ski Resort, whose Hill caught us temporarily...
(Bell Ayre) How they could let a road transporting skiers from NYC and North Jersey be in that condition... unbelieveable!
But... I've got the truck cleaned out; insurance cards sent to the dealership; and we've got some football today...

Sounds like a normal day here in Oswego County. Except for buying a new vehicle, of course. Glad you made it safe. Congrats on the new vehicle. Hope the chair made it there dry. Do you have a cap on the truck?

No cap...
By the time we got back to base; the weather was starting to co-operate...
We threw it in the bed, and got there and back; just before dark!
(BOTH of us hate diving at night!)
We wanted to keep today nice and light so that we could get ready for the football games! :ohyea:

Go Denver!!

Your story kind of reminds me of some of those winter sales call trips I had to make into Northern MN back in the 60's. It seems every time I went, I would run into a blizzard.

Glad you made it back safe.

Thanks! I just have to deliver that truck to the dealer tomorrow at noon; A sixty mile ride with no ballast in the bed!
