• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WHERE TO HANG THE GREMLIN BELL ??

Remember this, the person who got you the bell must be the one to hang it on the bike... The dealer who I bought my spyder from gave me a bell and the salesman actually put it on the spyder. When I got home my wife had also gotten me one and she put that one on.

Interesting..!!

I knew it had to be a gift and hang low to the ground but didn't know the gifter had to hang it. Maybe there in lays the problems....just wondering, do you have one, was it given and installed properly..?? :dontknow:

You CAN buy your own but they're "better" if gifted but, I've never heard that the giver had to install them. That said I have one that was given to me but I can't find anywhere to put it!

My gremlin bell was given to me 7 years ago by a car salesman from whom I purchased a 2006 Acura RL. I mentioned I rode a Harley and he gave me the bell. It has a hog's head on it. It is now hung from the right lower A arm on my RT Ltd.

i also have not heard before that the grifter must (should) hang the bell.

If you were to drill a small hole in one of the lower A-arm guards; you could put it on a keyring, and hang it there...

acinpcola says the gifter must hang the bell. me thinks he made this up as I have never heard this before---Budro

I had an accident on my meanstreak, I hit some loose gravel on a curve, after the accident I noticed my bell was not where I put it, I decided that I must have lost it just before the accident!!!! as to where to hang it. there are some plastic clips that hold the wire to the fender support remove one on the lower side and use it to hold the bell. mines been on for 13000 miles no problems.:joke:

I don't think that is part of the tradition... I got my first bell from a co-worker (hard core HD'er) and told me it had to be gifted but never mentioned of him having to put it. My wife got hers thru the mail by a GoS member and my second one was gifted from my wife (and had my Priest bless it), but I installed all 3 of them.

the first is my RSS the second is on My STS Same bell thoe!!!:roflblack: I just unpluged the wires that go to the fenders and slid it on and repluged! IMG_0350.jpgIMG_20130415_173734_178.jpg

I received my first bell from an ole salt of a friend. This was quite a few years ago and I was on active duty at the time. When he gave me the bell he is the one that mentioned to me that he had to be the one to attach the bell for it to cary on with good spirits and beat off the evil spirits of the road. I was fairly new to riding at that time and didn't think anything about it. Well, I have always done it that way and the one time I did not, was when a car turned left into the side of my goldwing and bent it in half as I went flying overhead.. To each his own at to whomeven hangs your bell. Do what ever makes you comfortable.

A side note to budro, if I was going to make something up about a dang gremlin bell, I would do far better than to say the gifter had to hang it.

Be Safe
