• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where is the temperature sensor?

I am a new owner of a 2016 F3 S and am loving the ride. I am trying to understand the quirks real or otherwise. The temperature shows 79° F on starting. Is this a normal experience or is it possible there is a sensor issue? As it is, from a cold start, I cannot believe this is correct. Coolant is full, Oil is correct. I haven't checked the radiator yet, still working on the concept of dissembling and reassembling. Any ideas on the way forward I would be most grateful. :banghead:

If it isn't broken don't try to fix it or you may end up with more expensive issues than you bargained for. These machines are computer operated and basically, smarter than we are. So in short, if you don't have an actual problem with the operation of your scooter, don't mess with it and create one. I'm just speaking from experience here. If you're insistent on knowing the ambient temp, buy a little thermometer with a suction cup and stick it somewhere on your spyder. Good luck and stay safe.

Yeah, I was just curious about it because I was surprised it was up to 156° and it didn’t kick into limp mode… The regular radiator. Temperature gauge never went past the halfway mark as always I didn’t know if they were connected in any kind of way, other than being on the machine because it’s so computerized know what I mean.

It might be something as simple as that's the lowest temperature the sensor is calibrated to record.... anything less than 79 degrees & it'll still show 79.

Kinda like the old Suzuki RG250 Gamma... 3,000 RPM weas as low as the tacho would go.

:welcome: :congrats:

I believe what you are seeing is ambient temperature, read by sensor in air intake to adjust the fuel/air mixture. Not engine temperature - It'll be that if it is along the top portion of the digital dash.

Engine temperature will be set of pegs on the Lh side of digital dash

Additionally, when the air is too hot, it will stick you with limp mode.

I suggest shaded parking, & not just for comfort.

As far as the radiator is concerned; a simple garden hose rinse/wash will do, no disassembly needed. Please avoid power washing till know your Spyder more (sensitive components & stuff).

Coolant; do NOT mix colors - that will form a gel throughout the system! Either color can be diluted with just water. Coolant flush & rinse every 2 years, just adding to top up is often not enough. The drain plug has been known to be fragile on some year/models - they get brittle with age &/or heat.

Does it REALLY matter? What matters to me is how hot or cold I feel while on the Spyder. When its 90 degrees out, and I am sitting at a stop light, I'm roasting and it doesn't matter to me what the temperature reading on the screen is telling me. Frankly it would not matter to me if this feature were not working (the screen display) since it doesn't determine anything about my riding or not riding.
