• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where/How/What Radar Detector?

I just don't know where or how to mount a radar detector on our new RT-S. I have used radar detectors in the past on motorcycles but they had regular handle bars. I don't even know which radar detector to choose to do the job. So if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I really think I'll need one because too many times it has been idling at 80 mph ... can't help myself!!! :sour:
Any help would really be appreciated.

I'd be interested in this myself. It's very hard to maintain the 55 mph limit on the backroad hiways around here. Wouldn't be so bad if it would find a home around 63 or so but it seems as if everytime I check the speedo it's in the 75 to 79 mph range! If I'm not careful that's gonna cost me big bucks, specially on the insurance rates!:lecturef_smilie:

Tech Mount for Radar

I have my set up for radar and ready to install next week when the bike arrives (heard that one before :yikes:). You can just have power to it or you can wait for an interface into the comm system from J&M or Sierrra or ...

I saw a diagram of the comm system and plan on interfacing the radar input into the driver speaker headset. The headsets are 7-pin and I am going to connect into the harness under the front fairing.

I will be using an Ampli-Rider to get a separate volume control and will have the second output from that going into the driver headset harness. Depending on whether they use a Deutsch or Delphi connector I will test it out and post after I get it done.

I'd sure be interested in seeing a copy of that comm system diagram...and any other wiring diagrams. No shop manual available for the RT yet.
 
Comm System Hookup for Radar

Scotty - if you go to the BRP Roadster SE parts catalogue and then to the 10 - Electrical Harness, Miscellaneous. You will find the the Auxilliary Audio Harness. This appears to be a Delphi connector on one end and a 7-pin DIN connector on the other that would connect up to the headset connector on the dash.

My plan is to pin out the lines in the Delphi (or what ever brand they use) and either make an additional male/female to fit between the two or to tap into the headset lines needed with inline diodes to prevent back feed either into the comm system or my audio input. :D That's the plan.:D More as soon as I see actual hardware but I also am sure that J&M, Kennedy and/or Sierra will probably be trying to produce something also.

Of course actually getting our hands on one of the CB/Comm system units seems distant because I haven't heard of anyone getting one yet.

Congrats to those that have them and the rest of us will be riding sooner than later since they have also started to deliver the blue version.

I've seen the parts diagrams with the connectors, but it sure would be nice to know the actual wiring, wiring colors, and pinouts. I'm in much the same pickle with the trailer hitch, until mine comes in. I can get a trailer tongue harness to make an adapter to my trailers, but I can't wire it up until I see how the cycle end of the harness is connected.

We can identify the grounds first and than i do a hook up with a ground and a patch cord to an ear bud until I find the correct speaker wires for the inputs. Didn't take two long last time.

Looking at the 7-pin connector with the index groove in the connector at the twelve o'clock position, the bottom pin is #2. So clockwise from the index groove the pins are #6, #1, #4, #2, #5, #3, #7.

6 is the shield/ground (one o'clock position)
1 is the microphone input (three o'clock position)
4 is the microphone ground (five o'clock position)
2 is the speaker ground (six o'clock position)
5 is the left speaker positive (seven o'clock position)
3 is the right speaker positive (nine o'clock position)
7 is the handheld PTT (eleven o'clock position)

RAM Mount makes a generic mount that fits the top of the clutch reservoir, if you have one. That is how I mounted my Zumo 550. I did have to drill one hole in the mount to make it fit the screws on top.
 
Got my Can-Am GPS today

It has mounts for the car, ram mounts, and other mounts so that it can be mounted in several other vehicles. The only thing it doesn't have is the traffic alert module which can be purchased separately but would need to be plugged in under the body work.

Radar Detector

Since keeping the speed under 70 is difficult. Today i was doing 63 in a 30 mph street, oops!:opps: But it was fun :D

I was going to install one on the RT-S but it was going to be a quickie install.

But I like this method much better.

Pictures, & drawings or a video would help.

Radar Detector

RAM Mount makes a generic mount that fits the top of the clutch reservoir, if you have one. That is how I mounted my Zumo 550. I did have to drill one hole in the mount to make it fit the screws on top.

I also would like to see a diagram for the Zumo 550 mount. I kind of hoped someone would design a mount to fit the center of the handle bars where the 660 goes. Does anyone know of somewhere or someone that are designing something like that?

I finished my install on top of my dash using the a TechMount with a short arm. I put one screw that the top of the dash. I added a piece of 1/16" x 5" x5" with a slight bend in the middle to fit the contour of the bottom side of the dash top. Glued the stainless down it provides great strain relief. There is a great space under the dash cover over the pull out card to allow the support and the nut.

Did I understand right? That mount fits the 550 Zumo? It doesn't look like a 550 mounted in the picture. Can you post an assembly diagram?
 
Mount was for radar and not for Zumo

TechMount has GPS mounts as well as radar mounts. They don't have a Spyder mount but this is pieces from other kits combined. Lonnie
