• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where do u normally shift?

I usually have mine running in the 4000-4500 range when riding... I have no idea what point I shift at, but it settles to around those numbers.
The other rule of thumb I use is to use the speed limit zones as a determining factor of the gear I'm in.
35 zone, I'm in 3rd. That keeps the RPMs above 3500, but the engine still reminds me when If I go too far above the speed limit
I shift to 4th when the limit is 45 or above, and usually stay out of 5th unless on the highway.

It depends on what you're after. The only rule is to stay above 3,500 or so (for an SE)...

What Scotty says. I've seen some reports of premature clutch wear problems on SE5's that are not covered under warranty when run under 3,500 RPMs. Make sure that when you shift to a higher gear, you also stay above 3,500 RPM.

Whoa!!

2012 RS-S SM5

I stay in first gear till 30-35 mph.

I Never up shift before 5000 RPM and usually wait till 7,000 RPM

Down around 4,000

When you are stopped at a light and down shifted to first, does the semi auto transmission act sort of like a centrifugal clutch? I know it will down shift for you as you slow down. You control the up shift. You obviously can control the downshift too. Does it require you to step on the brake while stopped on a flat surface? Is finding neutral just an easy up shift from first? I test rode an RS-SE5 around the parking lot at ASK awhile back. I did not get a full taste of it, but I like it.

I basically try to stay above 3500 rpm after the shift but I only occasionaly look at that and let the sound of the engine determine when I shift more than anything else.

It does operate just like a centrifugal clutch; generally it engages at about 1800 RPM give or take a few. So if you're stopped on a non-level surface, it will roll on you if you're not on the brake.
