• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where can one find a Spanner Socket Tool

I've had no luck in trying to find the spanner socket tool to remove the bearing retaining nut in the rear wheel. I want to change the rear wheel and need to remove the nut from the current wheel and place it on the new wheel. Any suggestions?

BRP Tool or make a bar to fit -

I think that many who have pulled the rear wheel bearings just make a flat bar that fits in the slot and back it out using a large crescent wrench. If you have some flat stock available cut and grind it to fit. If you are welding capable you can get fancier!!

Let's see....

Not a common tool and there are many sizes. If you can catch the Snap-on, Mac or one of the other tool trucks you may find what your looking for. I usually improvise if I don't have it or make one. The drop in flat stock is a simple fast way....:agree:

Go to Home Depot. They sell a flat wrecking bar, kind of a flat crowbar. Fits perfect. 20 bucks!

I think this is the wrecking bar that CptJAM used on my Spyder. We have another that is just a bit smaller but he isn't home for me to verify. image.jpgimage.jpg

That's about what I've come up with. From all the responses that looks to be the best way forward. I'll cut one down to the right size and then add it to my "specialty tools"!

Thx

Thanks all!

Thanks to all for the great responses. Since I've got some bar stock laying around I'm going to take one piece about 6" in length, grind it down to the right size, drill a hole through it for leverage for twisting, and might even get ambitious and weld an old socket on the top that I can put my ratchet on. Overkill but fun.

I took an old socket that fit in the inside of the nut and drilled a 1/4 inch hole threw it
then cut an old 1/4 inch extension to fit in slots in bolt
slide extension in holes in socket and use ratchet to remove wheel bearing retainer nut

I had a welder put some teeth on an impact socket. Works well, don't have the size socket I used in front of me at the time.

If you have the actual Can-Am part number you could do a google search on that. Gearhead has had a couple of tools I was looking for.
