• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When you change your own oil.

When you change your own oil and filters is logging in a maintenance notebook good enough to keep you out of trouble if warranty work is required?

might be a good idea to keep your receipts. A picture is worth a thousand words ,
so a little photographic evidence could serve some purpose too.
The cost of documenting your work, pales next to unreimbursed repairs if it comes up.

:agree: But caution most receipts are now printed on thermal paper & fade if not completely disappear in rather short timeframe. :lecturef_smilie::banghead::barf: So get your receipt & photos in proper filing order, email a copy or two. With a proper heading so you can search all your files titled
"oil change"nojoke:coffee: Quickly.

BRP suggest

I contacted BRP about this issue. I really don't trust the yahoos in my area to work on my machine. They said to keep the receipts as well. I also took photos of them with the odometer reading of the bike.

I scan the receipts and save them with a dated memorandum for the record that lists the mileage, type of oil and amount used. On the mileage I list total ODO mileage as well as date and mileage of previous oil & filter change. Then again, I'm kind of anal about such records.

Some app's out there to help too, but be careful

I like app's for tracking things.

I used a firestone app for a few years which was great for tracking all the repairs and maint on my vehicles. Then I got a new phone and the app data did not transfer! ARgh. i didn't even think about it when getting the new phone.

Now I just use the "notes" app that comes with my iphone. It syncs to the cloud, and I can insert photos of the odometer and receipts easily.

Just a thought.

Hi Bfromla,

Re: printed on thermal paper & fade

Yup; I make a copy of these types of receipts; that usually works for as long as I will be owning any vehicle.

And I am one of those guys who keep meticulous records of all of my vehicles. That makes things usually sell a little faster IMO.

Photo evidence is good. Have never heard of BRP denying warranty claims for added accessories or self done maintenance. But--CYA is always a good idea.
