• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When to get Spyder Serviced

I think I should have asked the question this way. Is there a difference in what the owners Manuel calls "service" and changing the oil once a year. The reason I am asking is we are supposed to pick up our new Spyder this evening and the dealer is offering a service package but it has to be used all in 3 years and I can't see putting enough miles on it to be at the point of it need more than an oil change once a year. Do you get them serviced at the recommended mileage or at certain time intervals.

Mileage is the recommended interval for servicing. One exception, if yours is a 1330 three, oil changes recommended at around 9,500 miles or once a year--whichever occurs first.

Actually, every vehicle I am aware of calls for changing the oil at least once a year regardless of mileage. The exact wording from the 2013 RT service manual is "Every 15000KM (9,300 MI) or 1 year (whichever comes first).

I have a 2010 RSS-

I have a 2010 RSS-ES and change the oil about 6,000 miles and all is working well. Have had it 4 years and got over 40,000 miles on it. So it seems to be the right thing to do!

Agree...

Follow the manual recommendations. In between 998 do oil changes every 4,600 miles or less and 1330 every 9,300 miles I would do a lot less as most oils start to break down around 4,000 miles but hey your covered by the book...

On my 998's I have always gone with 4,500 oil change intervals. Never got to the once a year thing because all my 998's have had three or four oil changes per year.
