A really fascinating but frightening account of Qantas Flight QF72 back in 2008. The story was just recently published.
A primary flight control computer on an Airbus 330 gets bad data from an air data computer and sends the plane into a steep dive. As the old saying goes, "Garbage in, garbage out." In this case the garbage out were commands that, had the captain not been able to override, would have crashed the plane. The Captain had to fight tooth and nail to overcome the computer as the command structure was computer at the top, pilot second.
A sobering warning about letting computers take control of our lives. We have that on a minuscule scale with the Spyders.
