There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Wheel & tire size question

I have a 2014 RT, but recently I have really been thinking about picking up a used RS to use for some local riding and for really hitting some twisties and rally courses. My wife claims that she would like to learn to ride, so it would also be a way to introduce her to riding.
I am not a fan of the 14" rims on the earlier models, and would like to know if the 15" rims and tires from a later model RT, ST, or F3, would fit without any changes? It appears that there should be no problem.
On another subject, I have come across a very clean 09 RS with under 2k miles for around $6800. It appears to be stock except for an aftermarket can am muffler. Is that a good price? I know I will be taking it to a dealer to have it checked, but the price didn't seem too bad.

Sounds like a great price for a second bike. I have no experience with 15" wheels on an older spyder but the 14" seem to work well on my 2012 RT.

Seems like a great deal if it's still in good shape. Not sure about the wheels. Mine is a 2014.
Yea, I got my 2 wheeler because I wanted to have something to hit the curves a little more agressively, but I didn't want to go with a full on sport bike, and I leaned away from a sport touring bike. After last week in Maggie Valley, I was really impressed with my spyder RT, but wondered how nice it would be to cut the corners on a RS. I would also like to try one on the local rally scene with my mustang club buddies.

There 3 different rim offsets. 2008 to 2012 GS/RS 14 inch rims are different then 2010 to 2012 RT 14 inch rims. They are both different than 2013 and later all models 15 inch. So there is some fender shiming changes to center the fender to the tire. The outer diameter on all tire/rim combos are basically the same.

I respect and trust Billy's statements on everything Spyder !!!!! ...... However I would get REAL WORLD TIRE measurements first .... I don't have a good feeling about the 15 inch tires fitting in the 14 inch FENDER .... just my humble opinion........... I just put the General Altimax RT43 175/65-15 on my 2014 RT ( front ) with old style fenders, and the difference between most 55 series casings and Generals 65 series casings are considerable............Tire calculators are SWAG at best ..........Mike :thumbup:
I understand what you are saying, but when the height of a tire is increased as you did, you have to expect an issue. The way I see it, since the rim diameter is going up by 1", the height of the tire needs to go down (lower profile tire). I believe that a 165/65-14 is the stock tire for an older RS. The stock size for a 15" rim is 165/55-15. The difference between the 55 series and 65 series should make up for the difference in height. My main concern was the possible difference in the offset of the rims.

I just talked to the guy. He purchased it from a friend of his fathers and never really got into riding. It has 2k miles currently and is in like new condition.
Are there any short comings with the 2009 models that I should know about?
