• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wheel Bearings

Just wondering, How many miles have you put on your rear wheel bearings
before having to replace them?

Wheel bearing replacement...?

Just wondering when was the last time you replaced the wheel bearings on your car...pick up...etc...? Len

Did mine around 20K the first time. I think they were still okay but did them anyway. I'd do them every other rear tire---- thinking you'll get around 8-12K from a rear. I'm lucky to get 8K ----:D

Apples and Oranges.:dontknow:

I agree it is apples and oranges, with the original belt tension in mind. But now, with the more sane tension, I'd say the wheel bearings should last the life of the Spyder. I've owned a lot of motorcycles and I've never had to change a wheel bearing on any of them (not talking dirt bikes, now that is Apples and Oranges!). Not to say that they don't fail, just that it's a pretty rare thing in my experience.

I've got over 20K on my Spyder with original bearings.

I wouldn't count on that. I feel that the design is weak, with high bearing loads under certain conditions. These loads were made worse by the tight belt spec. All that aside, BRP still specifies that the rear bearing seals, o-rings, and wear sleeves be replaced every 12,000 miles, the rear wheel bearings and sprocket bearing be inspected every 12K, and the rear sprocket bearing be replaced every 31,000 miles. I would not expect them to last a lifetime, but at a minimum owners should inspect them on schedule to keep their warranties intact, and replace the sprocket bearing at specified intervals to avoid warranty complications with the warranty for the non-wear items (such as the hub). I personally would never change just one bearing, they are too cheap not to replace them all, and if I was there to do the seals, I would probably go ahead and do the bearings.

108,344 miles bearings/sprockets replace: four times complete 3 bearings set, twice the rear sprocket bearing, once the rear sprocket, 6 front sprockets.
