There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Wheel Bearings...Which ones to get?

I'm investigating some vibration that just started occuring and Lamont suggested I take a look at wheel bearings in conjunction with belt tension..I've been reading up on bearings for the Spyders and there seems to be a lot of complaints about bearings made in China not lasting and of lesser quality...Can anybody suggest a source for some bearings that will hold up...good quality?...I'd appreciate some input....Thanks...Larry

In a recent thread about bearings pics of OEM's showed both chinese and USA made; so it seems its the luck of the draw.

I'm thinking about checking the two nearest me and if they have any in stock, and if any are US, I'll buy them and have them on hand.

I have on hand:

wheel(hub) bearings(2)- SKF Explorer 6205-2RSH/C3 (USA)

Wider Sprocket bearing- KYK 5106-WCC; 5006-2RS ; 33mm I.D. X 55mm O.D. X 23mm width (JN)

small O-ring- BRP #293300131
larger O-ring- BRP #293300124
Seals - BRP # 293200094

There is also a spacer which goes within the hub between the wheel bearings, axle then goes thru it. If wheel/tire assembly & axle have been removed, then reassembled using proper axle nut torque, spacer should be OK.
I mention this only because- If axle nut is over torqued, there is a remote chance that the spacer could be crushed slightly. This could cause clearance/stress issues on the bearings.

Just saying............

Thanks for the info...:)

Bill, can you clarify these numbers: KYK 5106-WCC; 5006-2RS
Trying to figure how to do an online search. Somehow was thinking that KYK 5006-2RS was the only number needed and found these: KYK 5006-2RS (1) $22.50

SKF 6205-2RS (2) $12.18 EACH

thanks.

Ulflyer, those are the various numbers I was able to come up with.
(Wider Sprocket bearing- KYK 5106-WCC; 5006-2RS ; 33mm I.D. X 55mm O.D. X 23mm width (JN) )
KYK 5106-WCC was on the box the bearing came in,
5006-2RS was another number I turned up,
and the noted dimensions are what the bearings should be.
I don't have a BRP sprocket bearing to compare to, maybe someone can verify the above numbers?!

Bill

Thanks Bill. If the above are correct I'd like to order a set as the KYK are Japanese and the SKF are Swedish...at least thats what I found listed.

I don't..........

Folks,
I don't sell these bearings.
This is just info I've come up with from other threads on the forum and internet searching.
I actually got these bearings, at no cost to me, from a bearing distributor I use at work.

Sorry for any confusion on this!

Bill

Bill, and others: sorry for causing the confusion by my poor wording. What I should have said is I have a quote from a dealer on the bearings I listed above at those prices, minus shipping of course, and If I can confirm that they are the correct ones, I intend to order a set. Also, If I can confirm them as correct I'll be glad to share the web site that sells the bearings with all of you.
