• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sounds like the Gas gods were on your side today. :D

Actually mine has done that on several occasions. Just wait until you get a 250 miles on a tank, then you will really be wondering what is going on.

My brother would check his gas mileage every time he filled up, So to drive him nuts [in a brotherly way] I would add a little gas to his tank. Then when he would start bragging how great his gas mileage was, i stopped adding gas. I thought he was going to rip his engine apart to find out why the mileage dropped.

Do you have a Brother?:roflblack:

Are you serious Tony? This is the first time it has happened to me and I've got over 10K. Actually, yesterday I was filling the tank (slowly) and the nozzle failed to shut off so it overfilled while I was being distracted. Went on the run today and was curious why my fuel bars weren't falling. 75 miles and it only dropped a bar. Damn! Is something wrong with the dash cluster? Went to the station after the run at 114 mi and it clicked off at 2.4 gal. So the cluster was OK. These tanks like to play games with you. The capacity is just under 6 (I think). I don't know how much is in the tank when the pump clicks off and how much is in the tank when it spills out.

BTW, what is the life expectancy of the brake pads under NORMAL driving conditions?

I got around 12,000 on my original pads.

Actually the tank holds around 6.6 gallons.

I found out on my Valkyries that when I ride with a group I can get 5 to 8 more MPG, because you tend to accellerate slower.

on pads I have now 16,000 on the second set, changed them at 6,000.. Yes the math is correct as I have a bit over 22,000 now.

Disc brakes are very simple to replace on a car (at least on my cars). Should they be done at a dealer (which is 30 minutes away), a motorcycle mechanic (2 minutes), or the driveway (8 hrs to get off the couch)?

Mpg

Last fall when I was at Lamont's BBQ I had a couple of tankfuls show right at 45mpg. It was witnessed by a couple other people. I mentioned it a couple times and no one believed me so I went into Area 51 mode and didn't mention it. When I got back into my country the mileage dropped back down to 30 to 36 mpg.

My VTX would take a half gal. more if i filled it with the bike upright [not on side stand] so my mileage would vary depending how i filled the tank.
The Spyder will take quite a bit more gas with the nosel all the way out.
All bars showing including the top little triangle.

Was there any difference in the type of fuel you used this time as well? Perhaps you found some that did not contain ethanol or something similar. But, most likely it is due to the overfilling of the tank the first time.

I actually wish I would have a problem like that sometimes though. :D

I think you're right about the overfilling. No diff in the gas. Funny how a half-gallon can improve your mileage by 22 miles per gallon.
