• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's with all these BS fees?!

I gave my Spyder to my son a few months ago and didn't realize how much I would miss it, so I have been looking for a used one, 2014 - 2016. I now understand what everyone is talking about with the dealer add on fees. One in particular, without even trying to negotiate a price lower than the asking, over and above the sales tax, is adding on about $10%, over $1200 in what I call BS fees including $199.00 for "battery protection." Like I am going to drive 120 miles roundtrip and spend probably $20.00 in gas to get a battery that I can buy anywhere from $85.00 to about $130.00 if I need a replacement. I guess I will wait until I can find one being sold by a private party. :banghead:

Jim Evans, Gaffney, SC, has a 2016 RTS listed for sale here on the forum. He posted it just this afternoon in fact. It might interest you and he's not too very far from you it would appear.

Bonus Money

:coffee:...Well another Bonus Money deal for the sales person. Things like this are going on with everything.
If they can get you to buy these add-ons, it gives more money to your sales person.

Stay Healthy. ....

there aren't many dealers with any morals left in America!!!!!!!!!

It seems the dealers of these things are a different breed. I would rather go the the dentist than return to the dealership where I bought one of our Spyders. Since I bought it, I have not heard a peep from them, no follow up after the sale, and it was a very poor experience at best. Maybe that's why? The other I bought used...

This really isn't anything new .... I haven'\t been in a Dealership in 8 yrs., I never even brought it in for any " initial servicing ". .... If there needed to have warranty work, I would have that done, but nothing else. .... JMHO ... Mike

The good thing........................................

Thankfully, we are smarter than they are. We don't need no steenkin undercoating, battery insurance, ad nauseum etc.

Do your due dilligence. Know what is going on.

I bought my last two Spyders without leaving my desk. I did my research, and made my deals. They picked up the trade-ins. They dropped off the new machines with a full tank of gas. I have not been to an "authorized" dealer since May of 2019. The one in AK was okay....but I also bought over 10 motorcycles and spyders from them in the 20 years I was there. Tried dealing with the locals here, and I got a rude awakening.

Their loss, my gain. We are fortunate to have two independents within driving distance. They both have performed service and accessorizing for us.

I refuse to "play the game" with the new "crop" of dealers.

An appointment is an engagement to see someone, while a morningstar is a large lump of metal used for viciously crushing skulls. It is important not to confuse the two

Who is "they"? I'm getting that you shopped over the interwebs, but just wondering who's doing the trade-in pickups and new machine drop offs that you're referring to.

I love it when they check my credit rating and see that I have a stellar number, because the dealership knows that I am a serious buyer.

When we go over the sales contract, I make sure to do a line-by-line item check to see if they'll charge me such BS fees. I adamantly say, "Nope, not gonna pay for that" or "Uh no, I'm not gonna pay for this either". If they still insist, I just start getting up out of my seat and say, "Let me know when we can close out this deal".

You'd be surprise how quickly they change their tune. This usually works, especially when it's at the end of the month and demand for the product is low (such as a leftover, because most people want to buy the latest and greatest).

I got a screaming' deal on my '18 RTL only because it was a year old and still in the crate.

Good luck !!

imotorsports, Chicago. I was completely satisfied both times. The deals are not as good now as they were in 20 and 21.

Im still waiting on the passenger factory armrests that was supposed to be on my 22 limited i ordered last may. All payed for when i ordered the ride. I found so much crap wrong with the bike from the very beginning. Complained to dealer about them but no response.. I went to them last month to check on armrests and the they laughed and said every thing is back ordered . BUT cant give me a refund on armrests so i could maybe purchase aftermarket . Dealers IMO just have given up on everything but selling. They seem to not care about anything else
