• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's the biggest trailer an RT can pull?

Like Mike said earlier it's not how big can you tow but how big can you stop. You can get almost anything moving but you do have to be able to stop it:yikes:

Yep :agree: …. in fact when I was building Tow Hitches for Spyders, I would test them by pulling my Toyt. Tacoma pk-up ( 3500 lbs.), not far, but enough to check the strength of the welds.... in the past I have suggested using electric brakes, but I'm concerned someone may over-do the weight ….. Mike :ohyea:

There are at least a couple of Spyder Ryders here in Oz who regularly tow electrically braked trailers/campers that weigh in somewhere around 700kgs/1500#'s

Not saying it's legal or that it's even advisable in the craziest of universes, but they've been doing it..... aaand apparently without incident or repurcussion for many years now! Between them they must've covered 10's if not 100's of thousands of miles towing these things!!

And there's another bloke in Western Australia who's fitted a 'Trike conversion' to his Spyder to increase its legal towing limit so he can 'legally' tow his 700 or so kg camper (he fitted one of those 'dual rear wheels with diff' trike kits.... so to you'n me it's now a quad, but apparently the Approval Engineer got it thru as a legit 'trike conversion' on a 'motorcycle'.... :dontknow: )

:yikes::yikes::yikes:Time and money you can do anything.

Same thinking

Yep, my bad. But I've been thinking, electric brakes for trailer? Is clutch/nanny gonna have fits with a heavier popup or teardrop trailer? Maybe a Spyder Tech could chime in?

I was thinking of the same thing of putting another axle and putting brakes on each...

Another axle, this makes no sense to me .... since having ONE axle is no problem for the weight of trailer why would you add all the weight (plus weight of brakes) of another axle assembly .... :dontknow:.... Mike
