I have seen a few 3 wheelers on the web and want to compare what one is the best? Compare by experienced rides not by specs on a page.

Who might have some informaton on this?

There are only 2 true 3 wheelers out there. The Spyder an Harley tri glide. The Honda Goldwing trike is a aftermarket kit. I studied all 3 before I bought my 2nd Spyder.. I will be honest tell you that I did look at the Harley first. But with it combing in at the mid 30's in price I just shook my head. The Spyder was 2nd that I looked at an with it comeing in from lower to mid 20's an havering everything that the Harley did plus more, I thought this was the bike for me. I then check the GW tike an it came in at 40 plus grand.. I said h3ll no an back to the Spyder I went. I ave rode both an hands down thespyder out handles the rest.

best three wheeler

have had three three wheelers first was a harley only had it a few months, very heavy, clumsey, hard to steer and bulky not for me. next was a beautiful show trike honda with "trike" rear end cobalt blue got lots of compliments it was striking , similar problems not for me. third was a suzuki s50 which i liked very much, light nimble easy to steer in fact i would still have it ifi hadent test drove my SPYDER RT one hour later i owned my spyder. nuf said

Spyder hands down

I first looked at the Harley Glide..I had what I considered a great salesman. I knew nothing about any of them...when on the demo ride he asked if I was just going to run the grandkids around town...said no way I'm going to run the wheels off it...the he asked what do you want from the machine..my answer STABILITY...his answer, then don't tell my boss but go look at the Can-Am Spyder. I had never even heard of it...of course no dealer close to me...so jumped on the internet...got reallly smitten with what I was seeing...found my closest dealer (4 hrs one way)..talked on the phone a couple times decided based on what I had seen on internet and conversations that I NEEDED a silver RTSE5...he looked for a couple weeks could not find and said I would love to be your servicing dealer. So I went "shopping" on the internet. Found 4 machines...I like to deal so started dealing and ended up with a dealership in Illiniois. I bought the machine without ever sitting on, driving or touching. ******since then my knowledge of who to buy from has increased 2000 fold...my next Spyder I will be working with COWTOWN...yep they are in MO and I am in WA....but I know from multiple Spyderfests that Cowtown is "da bomb" in Spyder dealerships.
So that is how I ended up with Ms Spyder and now am sure there is a 12 step program somewhere for Spyder addiction...but I am not looking...I am just ryding ryding ryding....

Having ridden the Tri-Glide and various Lehman trikes, IMHO for stability and ease of riding the Spyder takes it hands down. My wife was actually more comfortable on the back of a Tri-Glide, but still wanted the Spyder.

I don't think I am qualified to offer an answer to your question. I only have 7,300 miles on my RT-S and it is okay so far, other than six weeks in the shop for common parts. I only have 62,000 miles on my Gold Wing Motor Trike and it has been an error free machine. It is smooher, quieter, more hp and torque, better communications....CB, XM, AM/FM, buttons are easier to operate....ie cruise control, radios, cb....you would know once you have ridden one 10-15,000 miles or so.

I rode BR1 yesterday on my Saturday breakfast ride and he ran like a hose. It is cooling off here in So. Texas so the heat coming from the engine is less noticable. (Yes, I have the heat shield). I am happy folks like their Spyders, some have never ridden another trike or a two wheeler so their comparrison can be clouded. Hey, buy and ride what you like. All are fun.

I must go now, I am going out and get Punkin' and hook up my gas powered 48" lawn mower and do a couple of acres before lunch. Later, my friends.

KentuckyGuy has brought up a VERY good point... There are only 2 oem amnufactureres of three-wheeled motorcycles on the market; Can-Am and Harley-Davidson...
The Spyder runs away in this comparison... :2thumbs:

The rest of the story, The lady has traveled coast to coast and up into north east Canada. She has put a lot of mile and smiles behind her Spyder.
Just thought you should know.
OBTW My 3 wheeler is the best.

After putting 9000+ miles on my '09 GS Sm and before my '10 RTS se I took a Tri Glide out for a t
est ride. At slow speed it was heavy on the steering and transfered road imperfections to me.
I also found out when I grabbed the handle for reversing, it was awkward to watch where I was backing while holding onto the reverse lever and handlebar. I ended up buying my RTS Se and have been happy with it for 26000 miles.

Yes, I received an email this past Friday and owe them an answer....I wanted to ride BR1 a few miles....I did get 400 in the past couple of days and will report all is fine. Punkin's said "Why don't you hook up that Spyder to this mower and see how he does in the back 40?"...hey, I might just do that....
