What's the Benefit of pairing helmet intercoms to the bike?

Wife and I just purchased new helmet intercoms today and dealer is installing them as I type. Was wondering what the benefit was to pairing them with the bike. The original system we had when we bought the bike new, we paired (could see both helmets on the screen) but we ONLY use the intercoms to talk to each other making me think pairing to the Spyder is unnecessary. Am I missing something in my understanding of the benefit to pairing to bike or is it only helpful if I want to listen to the music through the helmet? Thanks.

I have a Garmin GPS mounted to my handlebars, and the system in my helmet is paired to the GPS so I can hear the directions.

Should CAN-AM ever get Apple Carplay working I may pair my helmet directly with my Spyder.

I think the choice is going to be personal and different for each rider. Personally, I don't believe there's any advantage or disadvantage to pairing the headsets to the bike instead of each other. I used to have my intercoms paired to my phone and then mesh connected (Sena units) to each other but switched to pairing my intercoms to the trike but still mesh connected to each other. The only reason I did was because "why not" since the trike has the ability to set one intercom as the rider's and the other as the passengers on trike's interface. Sometimes the trike's bluetooth is finicky, requiring a couple of power ups of my intercoms and/or power cycles of the trike but I'm too lazy to re-pair them to our individual phones. I do like the ability to listen to music via the trike's speakers and with the push of the button, switch the audio to my helmet and back again as desired.

I guess that's just a long winded way to say that if you like one or more features of the trike's audio system then it won't hurt but I don't think you're really missing out on anything if you don't.

I like being able to pair to the bike's radio. But my SENA SMH 10 seems to be against this, or maybe it's the bike, I have not decided. I tried for a couple of days to get the headset to pair to/with the bike while it was still paired to my phone. The only way I have been able to get it to work so far is to only pair it to the bike. Also, I have a Sirius XM add-on ONYX that I bought to connect to my FM antenna lead, which can supposedly tune to any FM station, and it will then pick up that channel on the bike. But that has not worked, so I am plugged into the aux port to hear it. Have not even tried anything with my GPS (Garmin) yet, other than to fit a mount and power supply point.

I have my Cardo Spirit HD units paired to each other, and mine to the Garmin XT and my smart phone, I have music on the Garmin and phone. I normally listen to music from the Garmin and can answer phone calls. The lady friend's is paired to her phone for her music and phone calls.

On my wife's 2023 S2S, we paired both Sena units to the trike and used Google Maps for directions on her phone paired to the trike on her phone mount. Both comms are Meshed to each other so we can talk to each other. A bit clunky TBH and weird sounding at times. At least we get directions that way.
When we take our slingshot out, we just use Sena mesh comms to talk and turn up the volume on the radio. Tried pairing a phone with Google Maps and comms but got weird echos most of the times..

Sure wish BRP would get off their A$%%^ and get the 2024 ACP and screens fixed so we can pair up the phones and use Google Maps seamlessly from her phone w Mesh for intercoms...

We are still considering one of the Carpuride 7" units for the 2024.
