• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's in your bags?

I have the removable BRP bags and in the small one I keep all my tools and in the large one I have my First Gear Thermal Suit stuffed in it. :doorag:

When I got home with the 2012 Ltd, I removed all those bags because they tie up a lot of space. I may sell them brand new, or just keep them for the next owner many yrs from now. (The bag for the front trunk is really nice, but thats where we like to store helmets.)

We keep our helmets in the front also.

Helmet storage

Helmets? Is that plural? I can only fit one Shoei Multitech in the frunk of the RS. Is the frunk that much larger on the RT, or are you referring to helmets that are less than full face...

I don't have the inserts, but I have some BMW soft inserts that fit. We never use those except for clothing on short, overnight road trips without the trailer. For daily use, my saddlebags remain empty...my junk is in the trunk. :) On long trips with the trailer, the left bag gets the REDA cans and Stabil, while the right has the and raingear and leftovers that don't fit elsewhere. Funny, for daily use my BMW saddlebags carry the load, while the topcase remains empty.

We pack our meds in one and wifes makeup, etc in the other. My tools go in the frunk in a large tool roll I purchased from Stone Lake Leathers.

I don't have those nice bag inserts for my lowly RT-AC :gaah:

But in my storage areas I keep:
  • Left Side, two full FrogTog Suits for me and the Wifey, along with some over boots and assorted gear, gloves, etc.
  • Right Side, when we travel together I keep my extra helmet in there. Her full face goes in the Frunk, but I wear a skid lid sometimes or a full face depending on weather, so I keep my Oneal Tirade full face in the right bag. When I am travelling long trips alone, I usually keep extra tools, the REDA can, and a quart of oil in the right side.
  • FRunk, in the very bottom is my BRP travel cover and any other misc stuff I can cram in there.
  • RRunk, a cooler I found with a hard plastic insert that fits PERFECTLY all the way to the bottom, leaving me room on one side for my Craftsman soft side tool bag and the other side I keep at least one ball cap so I look SNAZZY when I get where I'm going...:roflblack:

I keep all of them empty for the short rydes and "day trips" so Linda has room to shop............ if necessary.:roflblack: I've learned after 40 years.:banghead:

:agree: It's the shopping trips that keep the Missus happy; and me on the RT!
(Well... I've got rain gear in the right bag...:opps:)

I have the full set of the insert bags and also the frunk suitcase on rollers.

I do not ride with the insert bags in the cases. For whatever reason, I just do not like them. I did use them on our 2010 trip to Whitehorse and Skagway.

I dont carry anything in the side saddle bags. If it looks like, or rain is forcasted, I am wearing the Firstgear textiles, or my revit pants with the rain liner--which takes care of the rain.

My back trunk carries my fold up walking stick, a cap, extra gloves in various sizes, and a couple bungee cords.

The frunk carries the manual, the stock tool kit, a set of torx, some locktite, an extra pair of pliers, insurance papers, akspyderladys purse, and whatever else we need for the days ride.

Only one helmet will fit in the frunk. We use Nolans. We usually leave the helmets on the seat, but the bike is in full view of where we are. I have had people come over and look, but never tourch--so I don't worry to much about theft.

A helmet will fit into the right saddlebag, if the helmet is tipped onto its side.

Thanks Scotty. I will give that a try. Two years and 20,000+ miles--and I don't even know what I can stick in the saddle bags. Sheesh on me :roflblack:

Great video Lamont! I would not have believed that an HJC fullface would fit in the right 'bag. I guess I'll have to go to the dealer and try it out myself now... :gaah:
We currently use a pair of Fuel moduiars, but I've got an HJC modular that's my backup lid...
